Holy Cow! Democrat Dean Shocked by Campaign Crowds
Some interesting "behind the scenes" detail...

http://reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=politicsNews&storyID=3339064

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Howard Dean is the It candidate of the moment. From Rolling Stone to Modern Physician magazine, everybody wants a piece of the 2004 Democratic presidential contender.

---snip

German television, The New Yorker magazine and CBS' "60 Minutes II" vied for face time with the one Democratic contender to create early buzz with a sense of momentum almost five months before the first contests on the road to the White House.

---snip

Dean is an unabashed admirer of former President Bill Clinton and he turned in a Clintonesque performance of his own at an informal dinner with traveling reporters in a Seattle airport hotel.

Dressed in a white golf shirt, elbows on the table, a glass of water close at hand -- he does not drink alcohol -- Dean held forth for more than an hour on topics ranging from his years as a political science major at Yale University to the minutiae of trade pacts, the intricacies of foreign policy and the moral state of the nation.

4. You're right
Dean has made his reputation "slapping around" Bush for all kinds of failures but like the cartoon you show--he doesn't have to make a big show of it--he just agrees with Al!!

12. The pre-emptive strike!
I will tolerate a lot of BS from people, but I will not tolerate them being boring - nice meta-joke!

9. Judging by your pics URL, this is bandwidth theft, meegbear.
Edited on Tue Aug-26-03 01:43 PM by dajabr
And against DU rules. I'm sure the strain on ucomics' servers doesn't bother you one bit though.

"Do not steal someone else's bandwidth by posting images that are hosted on another website. Democratic Underground is a high-traffic website, so posting images from other sites will cause their server load to increase dramatically, and might even cost the website owner money. If you wish to post an image from another website, you must contact the owner of the other website to get their consent."

edit to add that at 2:40 EST http://www.ucomics.com/ will not load. "Server not found"

nice job meegbear!

7. Dean might be Clintonesque but he is more like Harry Truman
His bluntness is the key to both his Trumanesque charm and his foot-n-mouth foible.

17. Now, now
Rummy. Actually, I feel for some of the Kerry folks here. They're meta devoted to their candidate and assumed he'd eclipse others. It's frustrating to back a candidate that you think is by far and away the best when that candidate isn't gaining traction.

18. All in good fun, clar, but I hear what you're saying.
I posted it because I know Funk has a sense of humor, and I fully expect to be prodded by the Doc in the future. No animosity going on here. We both have the same ultimate goal: Chimp extraction.
