Who will be the next Vice President of the USA?

I've said a long time ago, that John Kerry had the nomination for the democrats in the bag. You can argue that Dean may give him a run for his money...and I would agree. Im glad Dean is doing so well. This means that Kerry has to fight and earn his nomination instead of it being viewed as if he was just handed it.

But....
John Kerry will be the next president of the United States.


The question of the VP, however, is not so clear cut. When Al Gore chose Lieberman instead of John Edwards in 2000, I said we were done for...I still voted for Joe and Gore and yes the election was stolen. But it would not have been close if Edwards was on that ticket.

Right now I see 4 people going for this VP spot...
They are Dean, Edwards , Clark, and Graham

Early on I thought it was a sure thing that Edwards would be the VP, then Graham gave me second thoughts. With the Explosion of Dean it gave me pause and I started wondering about a Kerry-Dean administration. After hearing more from Wes Clark , it seems there will be another very strong contender for the VP slot on the horizon.

In the coming week(s) somone will be making an announcement about a decision that I suspect has already been made.

I said the choice of Lieberman out of Kerry , Lieberman , Edwards caused us the last election. This time around the choice for VP isn't so easy to see.

But if Wes Clark throws his hat in the ring , I believe the VP slot will be finalized and in 2004 there will be a
Kerry-Clark Administration headed for the White House.

Zogby International, an independent firm, is scheduled to release Wednesday a poll showing Dr. Dean leading in New Hampshire with 38 percent of the vote to 17 percent for Senator John Kerry; in early July Senator Kerry had 25 percent to Dr. Dean's 22 percent. The poll has a margin of sampling error of 4.5 percentage points.

No, I meant that Wes Clark is going to announce that he will be running for president....I don't think Clark can be the point man for the democrats but the VP slot has Clark's name all over it.

I am forming an exploratory committee for running for Vice President. I am definately a D.C. outsider and I am a woman therefore I rock! I know I haven't racked up 1,000 posts yet on DU, but I'm hoping people here will endorse me anyway because I too hate Bush and his entire Administration. I will even call him a whistle ass during my debate with Cheney. Who's with me?

As the right wing defecated on Max Clelland they also did on Kerry. They are vicious and give mean-spirited a new meaning. They can't do it to that extent on Dr. Dean. He and his wife are both physicians and working class without a previous congressional record. By the way, I think the hatchet jobs they've done on Clelland and Kerry will buy the right wingers a spot in hell. Please back Dean.

That said, I think Clark is the most likely VP, though I think Edwards is overlooked too often.

at all. In fact, if he doesn't win NH I think he's toast.

The race could go a million different ways with a primary schedule this tight. It will be difficult to build the same sense of inevitability with so little time between contests. I think SC is gunning to be a bigger determiner than people imagined. But only if Iowa and NH are real contests, and not blow-outs.

that a Kerry-Dean ticket would work. Every where I have been, EVERYWHERE, the supporters for those two candidates have been at each other's throats. Maybe the rest of us are flying under the radar right now and attacks against our candidates will increase as their poll numbers go up, but I just can't see these two guys happily selling themselves as a cohesive team.

I know that I am going to be smote for this, but I think that Clark is overrated as a candidate. He IS strong Veep material, though.

if the current iteration of John Kerry has the nomination wrapped up, the Dick Cheney will be the VP. Lehane & Jordan must have been in a bad mood tonight after seeing the Bryant Park Rally for Dean.

But, to answer your question, Wes Clark will be the next VP, for Dean, of course.

to run with a woman, such as Barbara Boxer or Carol Moseley-Braun. Although Hillary is not that liberal, a Kucinch-Clinton ticket would definitely be a winner.

Never happen. Besides, Dennis is turning voters off with all that shrill screeching he does everytime he speaks. Kinda like nails running down a chalk board. He also couldn't get a damn thing done if elected as president anyhow because his policies are too radical for middle America. His hearts in the right place, but he's too radical for me, and I think he's shrill. I couldn't listen to that for 4 years. I can't even listen to it for 4 minutes before I hit mute on the remote.

I don't see Kerry picking Clark at all. Kerry has the military credentials, so he'll try to pick up southern states with a lot of electoral votes. Kerry has the "north-eastern elitist" label he doesn't like either, another reason for a born-and-raised southerner.

Clark would be Dean's pick. Since Dean is already building a ground organization in many competitive states, he may opt for an unknown individual with foreign policy goodies. This is very probable since it would buttress his controversial opposition to the war on Iraq.
