Kucinich supporters this is the moment no not the video
:)
If you have listened to Dennis like I have, Ive been very inspired and I also think he offers the best vision of all the candiates. Plus hes a sucess story, and I admire his work ethic too. We can still win, and knowing how Dennis is on labor, labor day will be a great day for him. I am not gonna give up because so and so is popular. I have invested my heart in Kucinich to tell you this. Thats why I support him. I am a democrat for a lot of reasons but what imo in their history is their willingness to be for great programs that will change us, FDR had the new deal and LBJ the great society, now lets support the great deal of Dennis Kucinich. I call it that. www.kucinich.us
Ive in the past confused victory which to me now is influencing the democratic party to support people like Kucinich with absolute victory which is DK going all the way. He stood up against the war as early as Febuary 2002 at his inspiring and no doubt beautiful prayer for america. So if you believe in the democratic party that became popular Kucinich is your man on a lot of issues. Also he is more than a candiate to me but hes an inspirator. In fact Dennis has shown an ablity to win in split districts by a lot yet he doesnt compromise his ideals and views. That said we must not be afraid and win or lose guys we had one of the most lovable and admirable men of the times. We can do this thing.

4. I try
:)
We musnt be afraid, we cant let the popularity of some candiates overrun us, if we do we are damned. I admittingly confused victory with absolute victory and knowing the difference has kept me happy. I tell you this, Dennis's birthday I am gonna start a thread for him. I really admire this man, I wont call him the next Wellstone but Dennis is a Wellstone democrat, hes a liberal who puts his principles above giving in. Wellstone would be proud of him, I bet he is. Dennis is really something to be proud of, hes the head of the progressive cancus. :) I also see John Lewis of Georgia as a VP for him. If people are gonna say hes racist, I dont think the honorable John Conyers would be standing up for him. Dennis believes what FDR before him did too, that fear should never conquer us. I tell you the democratic heroes of the past are looking down on Kucinich and smiling.

I would LOVE to see John Lewis as VP! He is one of my heroes as well. Did you know that John Lewis was with Martin on that balcony when he was assassinated? He has shown absolute integrity in every possible way!

24. yes I was told that
John Lewis is also a member of the progressive cancus. John Lewis also admired Bobby. Kucinich is carrying Wellstone's torch in this race and I hate to sound like I am bragging but Wellstone's torch is one of doing what we can do for all, and thats Kucinich's philsopy. John Lewis would be great for the job too what matter way to show our contrast with the GOP then do run a man who risked his safety and life for civil rights. Lewis admires Bobby Kennedy a lot too as do I.

Just isnt as adamant. I come from a very democratic family and its been a blessing. My dad took me to Baltimore to see Dennis he wasnt there but we were happy, and my dad liked what his message was and what Nader said.

16. a quote that explains it pretty well is this one
"I found one day in school a boy of medium size ill-treating a smaller boy. I expostulated, but he replied: The bigs hit me, so I hit the babies; that's fair. In these words he epitomized the history of the human race"

6. Hi John....you are one special dude!
...and I really admire the way you support Dennis.

I know we take hits everywhere for supporting him- still not sure why some feel the need to have to constantly put him down so...but thats just the way life is...everyone seems to have their own darn opinions, now don't they??

we are way early in this whole deal...I hear from inside sources that Dennis' campaign is gonna takeoff really big in the next little while...so just hang in there.

I am getting a really funny celeb coming to my town to do a DK fundraiser in early Oct...once things are finalized I will share it here.

I think its great to have all the candidates speaking out...so many dems...less media time for repubs LOL . I really feel each candidate brings something very important to the people. If we can just get more notice of DK out there...people will make the choice for change and truth.

Its a tough world and the stakes are very high- its not just about who wins the election but its about how our world will proceed from that point. I am hoping for a big change cause I see the insanity of chaos and fear at this time as a direction will will soon be too far gone to stop. This country cannot continue the path of greed and hate that we are on...I blame the leaders & corporate media to a point but it is in our hands as Americans who can change it with a vote....we cannot afford to be apathetic any longer and I am very heartened to find such a young soul as yourself with the wisdom to see this. I really feel Dennis is our only real chance to turn things around....I believe also that it can be done....

Peace

DR

14. They need to put him down, DR
because he's "too good to be true". Because they're all so jaded and cynical they've forgotten what it's like to be truly and deeply inspired by a genuinely good person. I think the latest efforts might put a dent in some of that.

Myself, I think I have an advantage on the cynicism thing. Dennis reminds me a great deal of my maternal Grandmother. That woman never, ever gave in to fear, never quit trying or believing she could make it through anything. She had a firm faith in her Catholic God as well as a firm faith in herself and other people. That's Dennis.

Mind you this is a woman who was deathly afraid of snakes, and yet came running into the house one day with a snake in a gallon feed bucket, bawling her eyes out. I looked in the bucket and there was a garter snake she'd accidentally hit with her hoe and cut in half. She was devstated that she'd hurt an innocent animal. Would Dennis cry the way she did? Possibly not, but I have no doubt that they shared a similar heart and spirit and that Dennis would be just as upset over hurting another living creature.

Having had my Grandmother as a part of my life for so many years, I learned early on there are some people who really are THAT good at heart. I also learned that those good people can do amazing things without even trying. When my Grandmother passed away a good 15 years ago, there were people who traveled from out of state and who hadn't seen her since grade-school. She was 56 years old, and she had made that strong an impression on the people she met that they remembered her as this beautiful person and couldn't let her passing go by without their repects paid. That's how people will remember Dennis.

I dont know who Dennis is like in my family but this is interesting I was watching this special feature on my Green Mile DVD, anyone who hasnt seen that, get it and you'll see why I oppose the death penalty among other reason, so like I was saying, John Coffey I know hes a fictional character but the director Frank ??? or Tom Hanks said hes like a special person that comes around every so often. I think that is what Dennis is, hes so special. I have no one to compare Dennis to but hes special and no one can take away his love, compassion, and his faith in the people.

7. Now is the moment, John!
One of the gifts I've received already from Dennis is the discovery that there are other people who care the way I care. If I had to choose a defining characteristic for Dennis, it would be his true care for the health, growth, and prosperity of our world. I hardly ever meet people face to face who "get" this. Yet, beneath the platform, this is what draws Dennis' supporters together. The sincere, passionate care.

If Dennis' campaign never went any farther, that is a gift beyond compare.

It's also a chance for us to join together and walk our own talk. To be the change we wish to see in the world; to keep hope burning brightly. Regardless of the outcome of any one election, we give an incomparable gift back to the world when we do so. And we win.

Every moment is *the* moment to give that gift. Every moment is a chance to cast aside doubt and choose hope. Act with hope. If enough people choose and vote with hope in this election, we'll achieve the change we wish to see.

We can do this thing.

55. Print out "Pass It On" tickets--perfect tool for enlightening others
Dennis Kucinich believes that great things happen when ordinary people take positive action and his Lift Up America! plan sets that belief in motion. Here's how you can participate: download and print out our pdf containing 3 Pass It On... tickets. http://www.kucinich.us/passiton.pdf Then do 3 favors for friends, family or fellow citizens who need a hand. Give each of them a Pass It On... ticket that tells them how they can be a part of the Lift Up America! plan too by doing favors for 3 other people.

Then do 3 favors for friends, family or fellow citizens who need a hand. Give each of them a Pass It On... ticket that tells them how they can be a part of the Lift Up America! plan too by doing favors for 3 other people.

Please share your thoughts and experiences with this action in the Pass It On... Forum at our Volunteer Discussion Board. Click Here for direct access. http://us.denniskucinich.us/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=29

8. So come forth young and old. Prepare for America's future.
Leader of the House opposition to the resolution, Congressman Kucinich gave the following statement on the House floor October 10, 2002, during general debate on the war resolution.

Yesterday students held a peace rally on the West front of the Capitol. It may have been the first rally on the Capitol grounds in opposition to war with Iraq. I attended and I heard representatives of America's youth asking: Why?

Why war against the people of Iraq?
Why assert military power which threatens innocent civilians?
Why war to settle differences?
Why separate our nation from the world community?
Why not give peaceful resolution a chance?

I looked at the faces of the young people at the peace rally. Fresh faces, hopeful, optimistic, and challenging. Soon the voices of our youth will be heard across the nation. And we should pay them heed. They will be heard on campuses, in town halls, in marches. They will be
raised to challenge and to confront senseless violence, mindless war, the death of innocents, the destruction of villages to save villages. Voices will be lifted up in urgency because the future knows when the place it needs to build could be destroyed. The future knows skepticism when promises of peace are wrapped in fire and brimstone.

Our young people opposing war represent a message from the future America, the America that can be, and with the upwardly spiraling aspirations of millions of Americans of all ages, the America that will be:

The future America works to make nonviolence an organizing principle in our society.
The future America works to make war archaic.

It is a nation that lives courageously in peace, working to settle differences at home and abroad without killing.

The future America comprehends the world as an interconnected whole. It understands that changes in transportation, communication and trade have made people throughout the world neighbors.

The future America believes that each person is sacred. That each person makes a difference. That each choice we make affects others. That an injury to one person is an injury to all. That justice ought to be international and that vengeance is reserved to the Lord.

It is an America where human rights, and workers rights and environmental quality principles are within the ark of the Human Covenant.

It is a nation where each life is given an opportunity to unfold, where all have access to health care, to higher education, to jobs and to a secure retirement. Where the quality of life matters. Where people build families, build communities, build an American community of our dreams, where our highest aspirations light the way to a better nation and to a better world.

The future America is a nation which works to sustain life on earth. It champions protection of the global environment. It works with all nations to abolish nuclear weapons, chemical weapons and biological weapons.

It is a nation which preserves the heavens for the restless human soul. And it rejects putting weapons in space because it knows the kingdom that will come from the stars should bring eternal peace, not war.

While some voices clamor for war, a future America looks for deeper unity of all people worldwide and seeks not empire but harmony.

So to you, young America, I sing a hymn of praise because while some may want to send you marching off to fight yesterday's wars, you are advancing from the future, reminding us that our nation has a higher calling. Reminding us of the America that can be. Reminding us that there has to be a better way. Challenging us to find that better way. Joining with us to make straight the path of democracy.

This is a time for caution as we would face war, but it is also a cause for joy because the same reveille which sounds a battle cry and clangs the tocsins of war, brings forth legions of others enlisted in a holy cause to relight the lamp of freedom in our own land.

So come forth young and old. Prepare for America's future.

9. *wipes tear* Thats my Kucinich
He inspires me, he tells us those who are willing to question that we are the ripple of hope that RFK spoke of, hes not arrogant and says I am the ripple of hope or I am Paul Wellstone's sucessor and representive in this race, he doesnt do that what he does instead is present Dennis Kucinich, congressman of the 10th district of Ohio and friend of the people, and he will be remembered in a positive light. Hes the soul of the party. He has a lot of respect for the people I really admire him. I knew he was the leader of the opposition Ive been trying to prove my point to people, I think win or lose the primary all of us Kucinich supporters should send him a thank you note, and I would tell him, Mr. Kucinich thank you so much for inspiring me, I will never forget you because you sir were one of the first candiates I was inspired by.

54. Nope, he wasn't.
He's used to hearing "Give it up Dennis, you haven't got a prayer of winning." until the polls prove them all wrong.

They told him he couldn't make City Council, Mayor, State Congress and Federal Representative. He did each and every one, even if he had to make more than one run to do it.

That's why I'm so certain he'll be elected President. If not in 2004 then the next time he makes a run for it, and he will make another run if he loses this one. With supporters all over the country, thre is no way he'll back down now.

He's amazing in a one on one situation. He is charming, brilliant and tough.

It's been a long time a'coming ... and, the moment is here.

We need Dennis Kucinich to restore our soul - America's renaissance ... reform, replenish, revive, rebuild, recycle, etc. ... to proactively seek best practices from all over and to energize our great resources in a positive wave; and, recalibrate our national purpose, etc. ... and, by leading, Dennis will inspire other leaders to come forward ... for the common good.

I'm looking forward to an opportunity to see Dennis face to face and tell him that he's altered my life in a dramatic way. I may not ever get that opportunity, and do you know, that's ok. It's enough to know that every time he speaks in the House, on the campaign trail, everywhere to everyone he speaks the same words in my head, heart and soul. I don't have the means to spread a message of hope like that...well at least not to have motivated it the way he has, but by all I hold dear, I DO have the means to help him spread it far and wide.

Edited on Sat Aug-30-03 09:48 PM by cosmicdot
~ tears of joy ~ the kind I always have gotten - whether it is hearing Jack or Bobby speak on old footage ... or Mario or Jesse giving keynote speeches at the conventions ...

here's a person who was accompanied by the father of an American soldier who died in Iraq ... a father who spoke with passion, especially his support of Dennis Kucinich ...

... and, to hear Dennis sing! ... 'my country 'tis of thee ... sweet land of liberty ...

cry ... definitely!

... for a Justice Dept that works for us, not against us ... for a Labor Dept which works for us, not against us ... for an Agriculture Dept which works for us, not against us ... for a Dept of Interior and an EPA which works for us, not against us ... for a Peace Dept ... for a Congress which goes to work for us, not against us ... and, for a leader who knows how to use the tools of government for us, not against us ... DK for the USA ...

34. Yes he does
He can be a funny guy too, "there is a difference between offense and defense most middle school students know that.", he can be serious "Now there is a family in Baghdad gathered up in their home, and they are told an attack is coming", and some may not like this but I think its right and its good, ok you know how Dennis says we shouldnt had gone to war and etc because its not only legally wrong but morally wrong I like that. It gives a human reason for opposing the war.

30. gives some sight in to why we support him
among others. He opposed war because of the human costs of war and it was a wrong war.

10. John, you're making a name for yourself here!*LOL*
People have seen your posts and are impressed with how well informed you are, and how well you state a case for Dennis.

I thought I'd let you know that we didn't see any other Presidential candidate represented at our Labor Day events this morning. We passed out a BUNCH of Pass It On tickets and some 10 points fliers, plus had a few people stop to talk to us abut issues. It was a really good morning for the campaign. I also found out that before I got there, our local Representative stopped by the table wearing a Kucinich pin and had to tell our regional leader how much she loves Dennis and loves working with him on the Progressive Caucus! YAY!

I dropped a bug in the ear of a local non-profit civic action group because they promote efforts to stop de-regulation efforts and push alternative energy solutions, I told the volunteer who called me they need to consider endorsing Kucinich because he stands for all those things PLUS doesn't take corporate donations either, meaning his vote is not for sale!

A little bit here, and a little bit there, my young friend, we're making progress! :toast:

12. I am humbled :)
A little bit of hard work, a great speech or two, and a little bit of luck and we will be keep on going. Who's your local representive? I tell you, its not just issues with me and Dennis, heres a man who I identify with, I am not a poor kid nor do I live in Cleveland but me and Dennis have much in common and that is we are proud liberals all the way, we take pride in our ancestry mostly Slavic-Irish, I am German and Slovak too however, we follow our hearts, we see if we can do something lets do it, we remember where we came from in my case that is remembering my immigrant ancestors and Dennis remembering his childhood. When people hear him speak they love what they hear. Dennis is himself but he has the traits of the great heroes of the past, hes a humble guy like Truman who isnt afraid to fight, like RFK on peace and compassion, FDR on fear, and much more. Yet despite all those simlarities hes himself. He's the kinda person I can see doing what Harry Truman did in 1948, long story short I am related to Iwo Jima flagraiser Mike Strank who died, Harry Truman came to the Strank's house during the battle for reelection and told little Mary Strank it was an honor to meet your parents. This is a story I use when I talk about the second world war generally but its a beautiful story, and I can see Dennis talking to a girl or a family who lost their kid in this war, and despite his opposition of the war give them his respect. He knows the sacrifaces, hes used to being doubted for those who dont know, this is a man who hasnt come out of nowhere but whos been somewhere all long.

33. Local rep is Julia Carson.
She's a great Rep. I've written her a few times over the past year or so and she never fails to respond to my letters. She's not perfect, but then I think Dennis is the closest thing to being a perfect Rep. I've ever seen for the issues that matter to me. Have joked around with my hubby about moving to Cleveland, if he doesn't get the nomination, so he can represent us in the House anyway.;-)

Oh and on another light note, I had my first real taste of vegan food today. Tacos made with Veggie-burger instead of hamburger, and they were delicious!

He's a strong man, no question about it. A strong man with a heart of gold.

40. I'm not a vegan myself...
too weak-willed to give up my chicken and Italian sausage, not to mention how does ANYONE live without eating cheese?!

We had a last minute Kucinich volunteer picnic after the parade ended and the guy who suggested it thought it might be fun to have a Kucinich theme so he made vegan tacos. He brought corn and flour shelles, and the flour ones were wheat. I've tried some wheat ones before and they were horrid but the ones he brought today were wonderful. I'm going to have to ask him what brand they are and look for them next time.

41. OOPS!
Yes, of course Sharpton and Moseley-Braun are; I tend to forget about them because they have been so dismissed. Personally, I would love to see our first female president be Moseley-Braun but, sadly, I do realize this country isn't quite ready yet. With the stakes so high in 2004, we can't afford to bring the crazies out who will vote Bush just to keep from voting for either an African-American or a female in the top spot...rats!

Please let me know about pretty-boy, I mean Edwards, being pro-labor; I wasn't aware of that.

43. Edwards is a good friend of Kucinich
and hes anti NAFTA, willing to take on corporations, etc, Kerry has a 90% lifetime percent record from the AFL-CIO. Kerry and Edwards arent the same economically as Kucinich but they are more preferable than Dean on that.

Edwards isnt the best but Dennis is friends with him. Kerry is someone who is on my short list of suport if Kucinich backs out, I hate and detest this war but I know that Shrub has done more damage than that and Kerry has the solutions I like to that too.

and I think he's a TRUE American hero for standing up to the private utilities and the banks when he was mayor of Cleveland. I think that people like him, who stand up to greed and the RW elitists should have action figures made in their image, not false heros who send our boys off to die in foriegn countries FOR the greed and the RW elitists. Great post, John...

60. Thanks John for your passion and enthusiasm!
In Dennis we have a candidate who is attractive across the board. He took 70% of the vote, and 50% of the Republican vote in his district in his last reelection campaign. He's someone who connects with people at their core, who speaks clearly, who outlines where he stands, who connects the dots, who tells us where the money is going to come from, who never misses a vote in his dedication to those he serves.

This man is a true public servant, and someone we should be fighting in the trenches for to make him our next President.

I, for one, am tired of settling for less.

61. exactly Dan
BTW Yesterday you met a dear friend of mine, leftistrebel. I for one am being sick of being told oh Kucinich he doesnt have a chance. To hell with that, we have seen what we have seen, and we see change I mean real change as doing as the best alternative. My only regret on Kucinich is that he lacks the money but he does not lack heart, passion, and love. Also it feels great when someone tells you that you are the ripple of hope RFK talked about, and he doesnt say I Dennis J Kucinich am, he says you are not me and we can make this possible, that said President Kucinich and his greatness is something I will tell the grandchildren like my grandparents tell me about FDR, and my parents about Jack Kennedy.
