Once And For All, A Plea For Fairness and Positivity From Dean Supporters
Cheers to Dr. Funkenstein for this post

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=108&topic_id=30963&mesg_id=30963

and I would second all that he says and replace "Dean" for "Kerry" in his post.

If Dean really does become our nominee, we need all of the help from the good people on this board that we can get, and snarking after an excellent public servant like John Kerry is not the way to go about it. We will be well served if either of these two men make a clear case against Bush and lead our party to a popular and electoral win in '04. Please continue honest discussion and do not just bomb Kerry threads. Dr. Dean is a big person and doesn't need us getting nasty with other people on this discussion board for him to find success.

1. These are fabulous ideas
We will have to unite behind whoever the candidate is to have any hope of defeating W in 2004. The hatefulness isn't necessary.

7. I know John! I respect you and your choice of Candidate!
I just wanted you to understand why Dean's stance on Iraq is fine with me!

9. hey Dean has the 2nd best view on Iraq
cant go wrong there although I like absolute oppositon. Kucinich is tied with Sharpton and M-B on it I think.

4. I heartedly concur
I have tried my upmost to not unfairly malign Kerry or his supporters. I have not always succeeded. I can't promise perfection. I do promise progress.

5. As long as Kerry attacks Howard Dean, he is fair game.
As long as his supporters here attack Howard Dean, Kerry is fair game.

The gloves are off.

This is a race, not a church social.

6. I think we've made some progress today on this issue
I hope you'll try to refrain long enough to give it a chance. Even DJcairo seems willing to tone down his rhetoric. If you read the earlier thread you see all but one person willing to at least try (at least the last time I read it). Of course, the only person who doesn't seem interested in toning things down did try to disrupt the thread and take it off topic with a typical bait post. But no one had responded to it the last I checked the thread. Fair criticism is fine, but the baiting needs to stop. We're all in this together.

8. Yeah! There is a Huge Difference in "fair criticism" and some
of the stuff I've seen coming on this Board the last couple of days and nights!

I won't go into it because I don't want to start another flame but suffice to say that if everyone would have just ignored those threads they would just have had the Dean haters on there in one little neat pile! It's hard not to jump on though and let them know what you think of their rhetoric! :-)
