Republican Dennis Hardy is kicking off his campaign for the GOP nomination for the 4th District seat held by Steve Buyer.

Hardy, 44, said he will announce his candidacy during a three-day, 12-county tour starting today in Monticello, Buyer's hometown, and during meetings with local newspaper editors.

The first day will conclude in his hometown of Danville.

A race is expensive, and Hardy said he will need at least $300,000 to challenge Buyer for the May nomination.

1. IN-4 is safely Republican
They made it Republican and took Lawrence County of the 8th so that Hostelleter's seat could become more competetive. No Dem has a prayer here.
