Kerry brings message into living rooms

Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry's campaign launched its first New Hampshire ad yesterday, a 30-second spot that uses footage from his visit to the state this week and his Wednesday night speech in Boston. It offers a simple message: He's the guy to get rid of President Bush.

"This afternoon, I was in New Hampshire, meeting with people who are hurting," Kerry says in a voiceover; "3.1 million jobs have been lost. The one person in the United States of America who deserves to be laid off is George W. Bush. I believe the courage of Americans can change this country. I am proud to join you as a candidate for president of the United States."

Production crews filmed Kerry's bus trip Wednesday from his Manchester headquarters to Boston for his hometown speech at Faneuil Hall. They also filmed the speech. Then they worked through the night to make the commercial. The same was done the day and night before for two ads that went up in Iowa following Kerry's visit to Des Moines.

In the first Iowa ad, titled "Strength," the candidate promises to roll back the Bush tax cuts to invest in education, health care and the skills of workers. He affirms his support for the middle class tax cut, saying it will boost the economy.
