Funny conversation from the other day

Let me start by saying that this is not flamebait, nor is this story intended to reflect on Dean supporters as a whole. I just thought it was funny. Anyways, a friend of mine is a big Dean supporter, and, as I'm a Kerry guy, we were having a friendly argument about the two candidates. The following is the unedited transcript of a few lines of that conversation:

Me: What is it about Dean that you like so much?
Him: Well, I just really like how, you know, he's risen so far on the strength of his own message, without help from the national media.
(A minute or so later)
Me: How long have you been active in supporting him?
Him: Oh, about a month. Ever since I saw him on the cover of Newsweek.

Again, not an attack on Dean himself or his supporters in general, just an irony I found amusing.

Dean does get support for his style, but the majority of us are with him for his message. No flame here, I just hope that those attracted to his style move on to the issues.

the same way! I managed to make a convert of my mother, who didn't like Dean at first because she only listened to the national media and wasn't really aware of his positions and policies.

...all based on the facts, not the hype. I do like the energy, but I like the message more.
