"Tidal Wave Tuesday"- Lieberman campaign surging along

"Lieberman led in a July poll in Arizona, however, and was holding his own in South Carolina last week, where four of the Democrats are about even.

He also grabbed a few key endorsements in Delaware, and was the first to set up an office and put paid staff in Oklahoma"......

1. I'll be really sad if LIEberman gets the nomination
he's a hand puppet for the GOP, in my opinion.

2. Why do you say he is a GOP op?
He's MILES BETTER than GWB and his ilk.

Thats very insulting to Lieberman.

5. he's supported Stump's policies....
that's what I base my decision on. Acting as an enabler for the Bush cabal is as bad as being a part of them, IMO.

11. Why does this surprise you? They said the same thing about Gore
in 2000. Some people never learn.

16. and don't forget Dolstein...
they're all anti-Semites, because there's nothing wrong with Lieberman, so it must all be anti-Semitism!

15. I agree
I am pissed off as hell at Lieberman right now but I agree that at least on domestic issues, he would be a lot better than Bush, and therefore if he gets the nomination I will vote for him. But he is unlikely to get it.

6. Gephardt's another one...
both of them should just go ahead and formally convert to the GOP... acting as 'liberal' enablers for the Bush cabal in unforgivable, given the magnitude of the damage caused by the neocons.

8. I'd rather have a smaller tent and know
that the people in it care about the tent, rather than tearing it down to make way for the GOP prison.

10. Lieberman
Has been on my shitlist since 1988, when he ran a savage, dishonest, dirty-tricks campaign against Weicker, who was a decent enough "moderate" republican in the mold of a Chafee, Snowe, Collins, or Jeffords (and now independent like Jeffords, for the same reasons).

Lieberman had significant help from and cooperation from William Buckley.

Need we say ANY more about Joe Lieberman?

12. If Weicker were truly decent, he'd have left the Republican
Party much earlier than he did.

Sorry, but given the choice between a Democrat who votes like a Democrat (and the fact is, Lieberman's voting record is solidly Democratic) and a Republican who votes like a Democrat, I'll go for the Democrat every time.

13. Lieberman's voting record is not what
I would like to see in any Democrat.

Of course it is better than 90% of the GOP...but that just points out how bad the GOP is, not how wonderful Lieberman is.

Given a choice between Lieberman and any of the current Dem candidates, I will take any but Joe.

Given a Choice between Joe and Bush?

I will vote for Nader and move to New Zealand.

Sorry, that's just how it is...and here's why:

Lieberman pushed for the destruction of welfare.

Lieberman banged the drums for war against Iraq the first time and the second time.

Lieberman supported sanctions on Iraq.

Lieberman supported aid to Colombia's military.

Lieberman supports an increase in Pentagon spending.

Lieberman supports the IMF, the World Bank, the WTO, and Permanent Normal Trade Relations for China.

Lieberman opposes gay marriage and is extremely squirrely on civil unions...he supported DOMA.

Lieberman supports the death penalty.

Lieberman is a heavy supporter of Star Wars. On March 19, 1998, he was one of only four Democrats who voted with all fifty-five Republicans to "deploy as soon as technologically possible, a National Missile Defense system capable of defending the territory of the United States."

Lieberman is terrible on Cuba. He was on a commission of the far right Cuban American National Foundation, and he campaigned in 1988 against Lowell Weicker for being too soft on Cuba.

Lieberman is terrible on education, where he supports private school vouchers.

Lieberman has supported privatizing Social Security.

Lieberman opposed the 1993 amendment to make the CIA's budget public -- one of only a very few Dems to do so.

Lieberman is terrible on civil liberties, he voted to eviscerate the "exclusionary rule" of the Fourth Amendment, allowing so-called good faith exceptions to the constitutional requirement to have a search warrant. He voted for and supports the Patriotic Act.

Lieberman is critical of affirmative action.

Lieberman supported an amendment in 1989 to give preferences to immigrants who speak English.

Lieberman is one of the chief water boys for the drug companies in the Senate.

Lieberman wanted to reduce teh capital gains tax -- and has voted in favor of such....

No, Lieberman is no Democrat that I would want in office...much less in the presidency.
