Kucinich answers the shrub
"Congressman Kucinich issued this statement in response to Bush's televised address from the White House: "Rather than acknowledging the failures of his policies, and the fact that Iraq had nothing to do with September 11, and that there were no weapons of mass destruction, the President this evening attempted to compound his blunders by deepening America's involvement in Iraq.

"He seems to forget that he attempted to drag the entire world into this using claims that had no basis in fact -- the same world that he now has to go back to lacking credibility and having squandered the good will that was there two years ago.

"The Bush Administration's arrogant occupation of Iraq has harmed the United States' position in the world community, caused the deaths of 289 American soldiers at last count, and diverted tens of billions of dollars from domestic needs. Now the President is asking for another $87 billion.

"We must allow the UN to take over peacekeeping operations in the country. The UN must take over management, accounting, and distribution to the Iraqi people of Iraq's oil profits. There must be no privatization of the Iraqi oil industry. The UN must handle the awarding of all contracts for the rebuilding of Iraq so that there can be no more sweetheart contracts for companies like Halliburton.

"The President has been unable to produce evidence that this war was fought over weapons of mass destruction. It is not too late for him to prove that it was not fought over oil. That can be done by returning control of the oil to the Iraqi people."

8. MY QUESTION WAS RHETORICAL
and snidely so. It means slapping a woman around with the understood implication that is what every real man does. It's also if spoken in in our household a way never to be permitted to return.

13. Thanks for pointing this out. We (meaning we as humans) tend

to get into using words and phrases and sometimes give no thought to their meaning.

19. Ok, I understand your objection, sort of-
what's the difference between "bitch-slap" and "stupid-slap"? Not a thing but gender. It's an exaggerated phrase. Calm down.

20. A bitch can also slap, you know
In fact, some of them will if you give them enough shit. That phrase isn't necessarily derogatory towards women.

11. Poll #s are essentially pointless
when it comes to counting Kucinich supporters. And no I'm not joking. There are people never heard from who are supporting him. They aren't counted and haven't been for decades, but come Primary day, they will be. ;-)

10. comedy

http://www.kucinich.us/culturecorner.htm

Congressman Kucinich, an avid genealogy fan, has traced his surname back to Croatia, where it is purported to mean “one who is lifted up by a surging tide.” Going back even further, the Representative found that an earlier ancestor had changed the name to Kucinich after complaining that the family’s original surname, “Cucinish,” was too darn difficult to spell.
Over the years, the Kucinich line has produced a number of notable characters. Lars Kucinich was Hannibal’s elephant trainer during the long trek over the Alps, Llewellyn Kucinich was the first person ever to fire a cannon during the 1812 Overture, and in more recent years, Susie Kucinich was unknown until she shortened her name to Susie Q.

Now Dennis Kucinich is the latest in that long and proud lineage. In his quest for the Democratic nomination for the presidency of the United States, he is struggling against tax cuts for the wealthy, the absence of a rational health-care plan, and the mindless use of the military to cover up diplomatic failures.

He’s also struggling against people’s difficulties in spelling and pronouncing his name.
“When it’s time to go to the polls,” he says, “just remember to vote for Dennis.”

he's inviting people to join him in something. That's the feel I get from him all the time. It's not him doing for us, it's him inviting us to do for ourselves and each other.
