No link yet, But Iowa, Political Correspondent most suprised by Edwards

On C-Span Campaign 2004 early A.M. Tom Beaumont, the political correspondent for the Des Moines Register was asked what has been the biggest surprise fo him in the last few weeks, and he said "John Edwards".

He stated that though Edwards was not high in the polls, that it seemed that much of the support for the front runners in Iowa seem to related more to those candidates pursuing activists and delegates, but that Edwards seems to be resonating with extreme power among the common people in Iowa, both urban and rural, and that these people are absolutely in love with Edwards and hand on his every word when he speaks and crowd arounbd him and want to get near they guy.

Stated that the polls may not reflect what is actually going on among the voters in Iowa and they seem to be taking Edwards as one of their own.

Will keep eye out for link, but it has been predicted in the last few weeks in another article, that Edwards could take a massive leap forward in the polls surprising everyone.

I too have sensed that Edwards has been coming on lately. He had 6% in last Zogby poll in Iowa which is up from 4% and it moved him into fourth place. He is competing for the SEIU endorsement, and he took a narrow lead in SC. Edwards appears to be on the comeback trail.

I've seen two of them, broadcast on Oklahoma TV, they appeal to small town and rural voters, so you can see the connection to being accepted in Iowa.

It's USAToday without the four-color graphs. And I don't know what Iowans Beaumont's talking about! John Edward's seems like a nice guy with zero charisma. Anyway, most Iowa farmers vote Republican*. That's why a right wingnut like Steven King can get elected to the U.S. House.

*I got to take this back, I remember a friend told me of a study by IA Dems showing that more farmers voted Dem but that it was the small town voters who were generally more conservative and voted Repug.

6. I have been HUGELY impressed by John Edwards

I still have questions about his national security and foreign policy creds, but his embodies the concept of Southern Gentleman for certain.

His supposed "attack" on Dean's comments at the CBC debate was indicative of the classiness of Edwards. He didn't do a Me Me Me on it, he pointed out his other rivals and where they, too, have stood on race issues.

And he's got some brilliant ideas for domestic policies.

I like Edwards as much as my own candidate, and would be just as satified if he makes it into the oval office, he deserves it after the fight he put up in the Senate about the 2000 elections.

I just feel he is on the way up...go johnnie go, and maybe change politics in North Carolina...lets hope!
