A letter from Edward M. Kennedy
I just received this email.......

Dear molly,

I’m sure you’re as proud of John Kerry as I’ve been over the last few days. His tough and inspiring call to action last week in formally launching his presidential campaign with visits to the key early caucus and primary states of South Carolina, Iowa, and New Hampshire has energized Democrats in those states and in many other states as well. (P.S. John finished the high-buzz tour in Massachusetts, but we already knew there that “He’s the one!!!")

The immediate challenge now is to help John build on this new and well-deserved momentum. He’s carrying the ideas and principles that you and I care about into one of the most critical elections of our time. He needs our help--- because America needs his leadership, his ability to know what’s right to do, and his experience to get it done. The last time America felt this vulnerable in the world was 62 years ago, when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor at the beginning of World War II on the all-important issue of protecting America. FDR got the job done then and so will John Kerry now.

He’ll get the job done on the home front too. We’re fed up with economic policies that ignore the needs of all but the wealthy. We’re fed up with the broken promises on school reform and health care and every other issue. I can’t wait to see John Kerry debate George Bush in the run-up to November ’04. That’ll be one election the Supreme Court won’t have to decide!

Let’s do more right now. Click HERE by September 30th and rush a contribution to the Kerry Campaign. Timing is everything in this fast-moving race and now is one of those rare campaign moments when we can multiply John’s new momentum in a major way. Act now…and don’t forget to send this email to friends who share our goal.

Sincerely,
Senator Edward M. Kennedy

1. Me too, Molly.
And I immediately responded with a campaign contribution to John Kerry!

John Kerry for President in 2004! The Democrat who will bring real honor and integrity to the White House, clean up Dubya's Messopotamia, and put Americans back to work!

2. I'm not backing him in the primary, but I have to say
it would definitely be a blast to watch Kerry tear Bush apart in a debate!

Personal aside, Molly, I don't like a lot of your posts, but I won't turn to bashing your candidate because of it. I just wish you'd grant Kucinich the same courtesy.

The comment about living in Cleveland while he was Mayor really disturbed me. I understand it, but please stop to consider it was over 2 decades ago. He's done a lot, learned a lot and matured a lot in that amount of time. It's not possible for anyone to not change at all over 20+ years.

Can I point out Kerry cast a vote for the invasion of Iraq, and you support him in spite of that? Isn't granting Kerry some room for error the same thing as accepting Kucinich may well have learned a lot between 1977 and now? Just a few thoughts for you to ponder.

And Good for Sen. Kennedy for speaking up. Kerry is a good man.

4. I did not consider that a "bash"

I have stayed away from Kucinich threads because I've felt like giving the guy a chance. Why would saying I lived in Cleveland while he was mayor be distirbing?

on edit - it was a very long time ago

You know Ive always respected the Kennedies and Kerry. Kerry is my second pick. I really think he does get a bad deal. Plus he has a very liberal record.

7. I'm a big fan of Edward Kennedy.
I wish he had more influence with Kerry when it came to Kerry's votes in the Senate. Kerry is okay. But he's not Ted Kennedy.
