Kerry ahead in Fox poll
"Since last month, Kerry has gained four points and currently stands at 17 percent among Democrats when asked which candidate they would vote for if the primary were held today. That puts Kerry ever so slightly ahead of Lieberman (16 percent) and Dean (14 percent)."

Wohoo!

1. I'd celebrate but I'm not taking the polls seriously right now.

They'll be fluttering like crazy for awhile, then get more believable by November, methinks. People are reacting to publicity at this point more than policy.

3. Yeah, me either
I think the majority of the polls simply indicate that:

1. It's still early
2. Most folks are JUST now starting to pay attention
3. It's anybody's game still.

2. This is a good indicator that Kerry
can re-energize his campaign and retake the mantle of frontrunner.

4. Not to rain on your parade, but-
I pretty well ignore Fox polls. Did you know just two days ago, they claimed their polls showed somewhere between 50-60% of people thought the situation in Iraq was better than expected?! WTF?! What kind of sick f*cks were they asking??

5. I usually do too
But they were talking to Democrats in this poll, not their nut case followers.

And I expected alot of flak on posting this, but we gotta support our guy anyway we can. And I know he's not your guy, but I support your guy whenever I can too.

6. Fox Polls
You shouldn't get too much flak. The idea of this poll is more about general standing - a reminder that this race is not yet decided.

7. Odd that this wasn't part of the snip:
When asked which Democrat would win the party’s nomination, the top choice among Democrats, Republicans and independents was former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean...

8. I didn't want to go there
Technically, the poll shows Kerry, Lieberman, and Dean in a statistical tie. This is why I say this polls demonstrates Kerry is in the mix and can, if he alters his tactics slightly, take the lead.

At the end of the day though, I just don't think Kerry is capable of taking the risks necessary to win.

in a dead heat with Dean?

Interesting. I gues Kucinich really is the only true progressive.

Kerry is in the lead among Democrats. When Republicans are introduced, Dean shoots up.

21. The Core Stats
The core stats of this poll is what interests me.

3. Regardless of how you plan to vote, who do you think is going to be the Democratic presidential nominee? (OPEN)

All Dem Rep Ind
(Joe Lieberman) 5 6 5 4
(John Kerry) 10 11 9 10
(Dick Gephardt) 4 3 4 4
(Howard Dean) 14 15 14 14

Margin of error +/-3%, it looks like Kerry and Dean are battling for the Republican 'nod'. Not even Lieberman comes out well. Of course the question isn't who they WANT but who they think will get it.

16. Either way.
If the poll is bullshit, it's bullshit. (Which it is.)

If it isn't, then look at the results. The original poster decided that it was pertinent so I pointed out it's results.

heh.

17. The Democratic Vote
That's the only vote that matters in the primaries. Why the hell should I care what a bunch of Republicans think?

And once again, post on candidate not Dean, thread fills up with shit. Typical.

Of course you don't. Just like you don't understand the difference between a terrorist and a soldier. This is getting dangerous.

11. Fox Is The Only Poll Worth Taking Seriously
The others were just wastes of time. This is the one that counts. No particular reason. Except for Fox's hard-earned reputation for journalistic excellence.

What is interesting in the poll is that Kerry leads amongst Dems, but when you through Pukes in there, Dean gets the nod. This is a rock solid indication that Republicans are scared of a Sharpton insurgency.

26. This wasnt a FOX TV type poll
Edited on Fri Sep-12-03 05:32 PM by Nicholas_J
But done by Opinion Dynamics. They have been aound for about 15 years and do a lot of other stuff unrelated to FOX, most not political at all, but strictly market research.

They have an interesting poll comparing Clinton and Bush for the same times in their presidency:

FOX News/Opinion Dynamics Poll

Our seven-year association with the Fox News Channel offers us a unique opportunity to mine a rich historical database of public opinion on a range of interesting issues. The recent decline in President George W. Bush's job and personal favorability ratings led us to construct a comparison between the present occupant of the White House and former President, Bill Clinton. While we only have data from President Clinton's second term in office, it is still instructive to look at the path of public opinion for each president's tenure. What emerges is an interesting dichotomy in public sentiment.

In general, it's clear that the American public passed their judgments quite differently on the two presidents. While President Clinton suffered erosion in his personal favorability, his job performance ratings held fairly steady, even through the rigors of the impeachment process. By contrast, we have recently witnessed a drop in President Bush's job performance ratings (from 77% a year ago to 55% at the two-year mark), but a less precipitous drop in his personal rating (about 10 points).

Despite this difference, it is interesting to note that the trend or slope of personal favorability ratings is similar for both presidents.

http://www.opiniondynamics.com/spring2003.html#fox

And it really shows Clinton in a more favorable light than Bush.

24. Even more
The number of people who think Bush will win in the Fox Poll is now is:

In the latest FOX News national poll of registered voters, those believing President Bush will win in 2004 stands at 49 percent, down from 61 percent in May 2003 and 60 percent in April 2002. The decline was not only among Democrats, but also Republicans. Four months ago, 85 percent of Republicans thought Bush would be reelected, while 72 percent believe so now.
