What the enemy is thinking
On the NY Times site, Brooks reports that the GOP wants Dean to win the nomination. They maybe wrong, but it's something to think about.

1. Yeah, that's the Rovian talking point de jour.
Which makes me think it's BS. Can't think why.

4. if they really wanted to face Dean.......
they wouldn't say a word about him and they would be attacking everyone else. They want Lieberman or Gephardt.

6. A blogforamerica poster
told a story the other day about working a Dean booth in Iowa, and having a local Repuke come up and repeat the talking points word for word. Yeah, Dean, that's the one we want...maybe I'll contribute (of course he didn't), etc. Of course if that were true, they'd be busting their butts to knock off Kerry, Gephardt, and now maybe Clark, not bragging about it to Dean's supporters faces. They must really be scared of Dean.

2. because many people, myself included, don't think that he has a chance
to win the general election

He would be the best candidate that the Republicans could hope for

3. You're right, for many reasons.
1. Raising the most money.
2. Drawing the largest crowds.
3. Leading the early polls.
4. Largest grassroots network.
5. Etc...

No chance at all.

5. They don't know what to think of Dean, IMHO.
Bush team considers Dean formidable Republicans admit they underestimated Dem candidate

By Judy Keen
USA TODAY

WASHINGTON -- Republican Party officials and political advisers to President Bush admit that they underestimated Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean and say they now consider him a formidable potential adversary.

Some Bush allies say he reminds them of another insurgent candidate who once bedeviled Bush: Arizona Sen. John McCain. His wins in Republican primary elections in New Hampshire and Michigan rattled Bush's 2000 campaign.

''There is something going on there, and I tell you, if we don't pay attention . . . we're making a big mistake,'' says Tom Rath, a Republican strategist and Bush adviser in New Hampshire.

7. Dean is Bush's dream come true.
Dean is a really bad debater. He keeps switching his stances. He takes credit for the work of others. His people have worked hard to alienate the rest of the Democratic Party.

By the way, these have all been part of numerous threads here. It's not my job to spoonfeed the Deanbots links that they already know about.

10. You're a Kucinich supporter, genius
Edited on Tue Sep-16-03 06:14 PM by w4rma
What's Kucinich's stance on abortion again? I do believe that you'll find it's different from the one he held last year.

What's Bush's position on anything? I do believe that many times it's different from the ones he held yesterday or in front of a different audience.

9. Since the right wingers have NEVER lied to me before
about ANYTHING...EVER...this must be the gospel truth, cross their shriveled little hearts and hope they...all get to heaven in a little row boat.

I knew the minute that pillar of our times, KKKarl let this slip, that he'd be really sorry because then us smart Dems would all turn as one toward a candidate *he* never talks about. :silly:
