I write to contrast Dr. Howard Dean's stance on the environment with that of President Bush.
I and my wife have recently vacationed in Vermont. It is without a doubt one of the cleanest and most scenic states we visited during our 2,400 mile-road trip. In speaking with local residents, they said that while Dr. Dean was governor (11 years) he skillfully balanced the state's environmental needs while protecting jobs, in particular light industry, logging and ski resorts.
So, I can believe Dr. Dean when he says America can have a clean environment, invest in alternative energy technologies to reduce our dependence on Middle East oil and still have a productive economy with good paying jobs and affordable health insurance.
In contrast, one of the very first things President Bush did upon assuming office was to renege on his campaign promise to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Sincerely,
James Bordonaro
