From NPR: Democrats Seek to Fire Up 'NASCAR Dad' Vote
Sept. 19, 2003

"NASCAR dads" are the new suburban soccer moms. These rural, working-class men are considered a voting bloc that could reelect President Bush -- or put a Democrat back in the White House. Several Democratic candidates are haunting NASCAR racetracks, trying to convince voters the Bush administration has ignored them.
