Something about him. Over on the NC State boards they rag him because it seems most State people are Conservative. They call him ambulance chaser and all that, BUT...

I believe he is clearly more than that. The dedication of he and his wife stand out and I believe in his sincerity. I believe he sees the possibility of a better America.

I would be proud to vote for this man as our next President.

6. Let me say...

that as a North Carolinian, it's not just the conservatives who don't like Edwards. He has completely failed to represent NC issues on the Hill, hell, he hardly ever votes. Before he ran for public office he hardly ever voted in general elections. His constituant services are appalling. He's a millionaire who neglected to pay his property taxes on his mansion in Georgetown. There are reasons he wouldn't carry his home state, and it's not because we're all conservatives down here.

8. Are you reading from the RNC handbook?

Good grief. He has missed less votes than anyone but Kucinich. He paid the tax bill once he found out about the amount due. There were no issues of even remotely breaking the law. At all. And he is doing better against Bush in North Carolina than any of the other candidates are doing against Bush nationwide. I agree that Edwards gets attacked from both the right and the left, but so do all the other candidates with the possible exception of Kucinich. Your arguments against him do not seem to be based on liberal issues.
They seem to be based on the type of propaganda the RNC puts out.

9. Edwards has served the state well

Edwards has neglected this state , is typical old conservative hype... if you know North Carolina you could have predicted this statement the day he said he was running for president. Young Senator Edwards first appeared on CBS Channel 3 Charlotte, after listening to his refreshing voice in this conservative state...I said to my husband that young man will be the next Senator and what a refreshing view he will bring to the state after the views of the I', against it views of Helms.. I think he will be President of the United States, it could be V.P...but he will move to the top in any thing he does , with his intelligence,level thinking, hard work, and a sunny attitude..how much nicer it is to be an american citizen when we have a leader with the above mentioned attributes and a sunny and up beat out look.

11. Just not true

Sorry, but what you're saying about Edwards is just not true. Edwards is known, both in NC and in DC for his excellent constituency services, which is particularly remarkable for a freshman Senator who had to start from the ground up (unlike Senators who had been in office for decades or inherited seats and veterans staffs from friendly Senators who had been in office for decades).

He also has an excellent voting record - in fact, in the 107th Congress, he had a 100% record. Even while running for President this year, his voting percentage has consistently been in the high 80s and 90s, better than any of the other Democratic candidates who are currently serving.

The tax issue is a typical Republican rant. However, as he explained it, that was a simple, albeit unfortunate (and no doubt, embarrassing) oversight, but as soon as it was brought to his attention, he paid it. Hardly worth the uproar that Republicans tried to generate around it.

I'm fairly sure he isn't. Jesse Helm's constituent services were known for being excellent, Edwards' arn't. Don't get me wrong, I hate, hate, hate Helms, but his constituent services put Edwards to shame. But yes, all of you are right about that tax issue, and the voting too. I've been spending too much time around my parents. :) Thanks for slipping those figures my way, I'll have to remember them. Sorry!

10. Sorry to disagree on Edwards loosing his Senate Seat

he not only wouldn't have lost the seat...but he knows Bowles, will win the seat...Bush, I don't think is going to carry North Carolina...several people up for election who are republicans are distancing themselves from Bush...Rep. Myric and Cass Ballinger. Ballinger was telling the Nation he lived in a heavily populated republican district and didn't have to worry,just over a year ago..Now he is crying the economy will cause Bush trouble in North Carolina.
