we have hundreds of house parties set for this weekend which will bring in lots of money. Also, I've noticed people are waiting til the end to donate. But whether he makes this $5 million in ten days doesn't matter he already has set the record and heck, some campaigns can expect to make five million for the entire quarter.

i'm a strong gep spporter, but i'll be the first to admit admiration for what the Good Doctor has been able to do via the internet and grassroots. he's really fired a lot of folks up and subsequently drawn a lot of new people into the process.

If Dean doesn't get the nomination, i'm hopeful that these folks will continue to be a part of the process and our party. that would be huge. when this is all said and done, the party owes Howard a huge thank you when this is all said and done. imho

Gep has some policy and platform differences with Dean...and on some of those positions, I agree with Ol' Geppie...but come on! Newt? Please.

Gep does himself and the party no service by engaging the way he has -- keep the critique on the issues, lose the snarky and offensive attack mode.

Yay! I'm going to one in Alexandria and have already committed to donating $100. I'm sure there are a lot of people who will be doing this so look for a big surge in donations on Tuesday! GO DEAN!!! Yay!!!

7. Here's a bit of encouraging news

from a poster on the Kos blog:

I just got a call from one of my volunteers in town, who is good friends with one of Dean's webmasters. It turns out that they process all checks sent to the campaign here in Charlottesville (who knew?!), and their paid staff is absolutely overwhelmed by the current volume. They were fearful that many checks wouldn't get processed by September 30 and therefore wouldn't count toward the third-quarter total or the $5 million goal. So the webmaster guy thinks, "Wait a minute. My friend says there's a big, really active grassroots group in Charlottesville. Maybe we can get them to help process the checks." He calls his friend, she calls me, and we're going to start setting up shifts of volunteers

This $5 million is just the cherry on the cake since Dean broke Clinton's record weeks ago. With the house parties and late contributors I feel we will get to at least $3 million. Not a bad showing over ten days--especially considering some candidates won't raise much more than $5 million this entire quarter.

That's when Dean has his houseparty day across the country -
all that money gets added to the bat for the giant conference
call. That'll get the bat up at least by 1-2 mil.

18. I am worried too, but not as much as I was

Because it seems to be moving a lot quicker now...I estimated that it needed to go up an average of just over $20,000 an hour if we want to make the goal. It is moving a little slower than that but faster than it was, and yesterday it moved faster than $20,000 each hour for several hours. I think Monday will also bring a big infusion. As long as we are within $1.5-$1 million by Tuesday morning, people will think the goal is reachable and will give a lot at the end. I hope.
