Buddy Leach for governor in Louisiana
Leach is the only true liberal in this race. He has proposed a state minimum wage increase, as well as a tax on oil processing for foreign companies which would cover a teacher pay raise.

He has also proposed eliminating taxes on senior citizens, as well as focusing on support for small businesses. He favors a tax free August for families with children going back to school. So, he has some moderate positions as well, which makes him an even more widely appealing candidate. I think that he is a true business populist who understands how to help the disadvantaged while not ignoring the business community.

What do the LA DU members think about this race?

1. Well, I'm from Mississippi...
so I don't get a vote. But if I did, it would either go to Leach or Ieyoub. Hard for me to pick between them...

2. Can he beat Jindal?
I like Blanco from what I've seen. Is he too "progressive" for LA?

3. Hmm....
He might be too progressive statewide. But he is a clear alternative to Jindal and the other more conservative Democrats. If he makes the run-off, I think he would have a decent shot at edging out Jindal.
