How about a Dean/Kucinich, Kucinich/Dean ticket?
Both candidates were one of a few that really were outspoken not only against the Iraq war, but against Bush and his tax-cuts. Both very pro-gay, both feel NATO and the WTO are in trouble (though DK wants to cut it, Dean wants to fix it). I wouldn't mind this ticket, what are your thoughts?

I really like DK
And was split down the middle with who I'd support. Mind you I chose Dean around the time he was polling about even with Kucinich (at 1-2%) so it wasn't about being elected. What sold me was when I heard Dean speak in person when he made a stop in Salt Lake City. I melted.

4. Thats good of you Sean
and may I say kind. I dont care about the polls. I was once a Dean supporter myself, but what got me for DK was something beautiful, I am a big pro labor addict lol, so DK speaks against Taft-Hartley and I am like WOW. I am glad you dont forget this, we dont like being told about the polls either and neither did you apparently. Good for you. I almost saw Dennis but he was fighting for us.

Who cares. This is the moment to quote DK and lets take our country back to quote your guy. My dream if he hadnt died would be Wellstone/Kucinich. Wouldnt that be great? Its such a shame.

What's your problem with kids actually giving a flying fig about who decides their future? Call me crazy if you like, but personally these young people make me proud to be a member of the Democratic Party. They're the ones who will pick it up when we're dead and gone.

10. Well thank you.
I do believe age has nothing to do with politics. Last I checked we all had a voice, whether we were 16, 26, 36, or 76. Age should not be an issue when it comes to voicing ones opinion.

16. I could handle it, but I don't see it happening.
I don't want to offend you, but my view of the major difference between the two is that Kucinich is honest, period, without any exception, while Dean's honesty is a little less guaranteed. Sorry if I upset anyone, but that's how I view his "mis-speaking" along with his remarks about Clark today. I could overlook those things if they were few and far between, but they're a little too common for my tastes.

17. Well I think Dean *IS* honest that is why he's in trouble a lot.
Cause he says what he REALLY believes and many people don't like it. But I do understand, that people would be turned off by his bluntness.

21. It could be that, but that's not the way it
strikes me. I don't hate the man, but I'm definitely not super confident in him either, know what I mean?

It could easily be that he speaks what is in his mind at the moment without considering how it will look later, but then that's a definite disadvantage in a general election campaign. If that's what it is, he'd better get it in check, and fast if he gets the nod.

That's one thing I love about Kucinich, that there is only ONE subject he can be accused of "waffling" or changing on, and that one is easily refuted, imo.

23. Well I agree.
But that is what turned me on about Dean. Yes sometimes he puts his foot into his mouth, but a lot of the time he's the first candidate to come out and say something bold. I mean in February there were only four candidates that were really outspoken against the war. Dennis Kucinich, Howard Dean, Braun, and Sharpton. ALL were polling at around the same.

To me that shows true leadership from those four. They knew it'd be hard to not support a popular war. They did. Of course Dean's campaign took off and with that he didn't waver a bit. I feel that his bluntless is probably one reason he's so well liked.

25. That's IT! Thank you, Sean, this has been really
driving me nuts for a while now. Dean keeps saying things I admire, and then within a week he's stuck his foot in his mouth and taken it all back. Makes me want to smack him upside the head!*LOL* Clinton used to do that all the time, and THAT'S where I keep seeing the similarity....and BTW, KEERIST do I miss Clinton these days!

19. Okay, I'll bite!
I have a hidden soft spot for CMB and Edwards; I'd like to see one of them on the ticket. If not,

A Kucinich/Dean match holds some promise. You'd be joining the folks bucking business as usual onto one ticket. I think it would get the votes.

Of course, I have reasons for preferring DK on the top of the ticket!
:P

I don't want to see Dennis as VP; he is way too busy introducing legislation and working for change. If not president, I want him in the house or the senate, where he kicks ***.

I'll take it as the compliment intended! It's taken me half a lifetime to learn to bite softly. I'd like to be civil enough to be a member of the pack sometimes, instead of always the Lone Wolf.

That's something that you in your youth have already mastered. You are a model of civility, inclusiveness, and good manners for all of us adults here at DU, and I want you to know how much I appreciate it.

I do not want Kucinich in a VP slot, except that maybe it would increase his name recognition enough to win him a general in 2008. Even so, I think I'd rather see him in the Senate or as Speaker of the House.

Geeyawd, Dennis as Speaker of the House! Ok I am SO going to shut off my twisted mind now, and Dennis would definitely NOT like where my head went for a second or two!*shiver* Some days I even scare myself!

30. We DO need most of the Patriot ACt repealed, not just "looked at."
And Dean won't reduce defense spending "in this time of terror," according to Dean on Russert, while at the same time he wants to balance the budget in the first year, according to another post.

This would be a bad mismatch. Think of a good cabinet office for Dean.

I started out looking at Dean, became a Kucitizen, and remain so. Dean will have to agree on a plan to get out of Iraq, though. 'Doing it' in Iraq better than Bush won't work for any Dem (IMO).

34. Help Me Out Here Alex
Just how is Howard Dean a liberal? Is it the 100% rating from the NRA? Or, is it that willingness to cut social services to maintain the bloated Pentagon budget? Please don't get me wrong: I'm not trying to smear Dean (or the list could be a lot longer), but to suggest that calling him a liberal is succumbing to conservative propaganda. In Dean's own words, he's no liberal. For me, Dean marks just about as far right as I can be enticed. With Kucinich's help.
