1. As much of a rightie fuckwad as Lieberman is,

he still has gone on the record criticising the Bush Administration for its fiscal policies and environmental record (as well as top-tier repubs like Tom Delay), so I seriously doubt THAT'll happen. But stranger things have occurred, I guess....

He's not the only one attracting Republicans and he can't be accused of going out of his way to attract them.

How come Lieberman is everyone's whipping boy while we ignore the rest?

I agree with the intitial assertion, especially since this is not the first time Bush has had this idea about Lieberman but Lieberman isn't the only danger in our back yard.

Besided, for some reason, I can't imagine Lieberman switching party affiliation no matter how devastated he is at not being the no 1 DLC poster boy- he was meant to be but he's not and he's been replaced.

It would be interesting to know who all former Lieberman supporters have transferred to because as I recall, they were rather conservative, pro-DLC, very pro-war and very much a pain in the ass as they tried to convince us that Lieberman was the ultimate Liberal.

But again, I don't think Lieberman would do that.

He may be a little confused about the necessity of taking out Muslim states but he has a pretty good record of social liberalism, inherent to his religious beliefs, that he wouldn't want to ridicule by doing such a thing.

But Sheesh, the day I see a Dem teaming up with Bush is the day I just march down to DLC HQs and ... well... not gonna say anymore!

I can't imagine even Joe going that far... unless it was some sort of Brutus thing where he wanted to get close enough to shove the dagger in, but that's probably too interesting a thought for Lieberman.

Although, it's interesting in light of the "Clark factor", e.g. a certain number of dissatisfied folks who usually vote Republican voting for Clark because they want to seem "tough on terror", yet want their reservist spouses to come the heck home right now. Turnabout, sort of.

...Although in truth I can't imagine, even with Lieberman as a runningmate, "conservative Democrats and Jewish voters" siding with Bush under any circumstances.

but this is not the first time Bush has entertained the idea.

The boys are desperate and will stop at nothing to protect their interests and cover their ass. The last thing they need at 1600 Penn Ave is someone like Kucinich or Sharpton going through their files.

Surely, any moderate Dem has to recognize they'd immediately be sidelined or shamelessly used like Powell to push their policy without giving them a say. Any Dem who willingly becomes a token mouthpiece for this guys loses all respect with me. As Bush made clear when he used Democrats support in war time to push his right-wing agenda, loyalty is a one-way street. All lieberman would give him is credibility, without Bush having to earn it. If Bush wants unity, he ought to stop sucking up to the extremists in his party, and back up his "compassionate conservative" agenda by actions rather than talking left while charging right.

I dont think that neofascists would vote for a jew. I do think that it is more likely that the districts that use electronic voting will have their votes rigged to make sure all the republicans win.
