Do you think that the GOP is sacrificing bush for '04?

This might seem a little strange, but I have the sneaking suspicion that the major GOP players, are willing to sacrifice the bush presidency to try again in '08.

This is not a wild-eyed theory; I put NOTHING past these people.
The support for bush is drying up quickly, very quickly, in all quarters. The RWnuts on the radio are playing this out, but the real support, especially in Congress, is falling apart. When Repugs start asking questions about funding anything related to the military, something is not quite squared.

So...what do you think?

Will the GOP abandon the chimp, or will they back him? :shrug:

Wish I had a reason to say why but I'm just going with the gut instinct.

2. Nah. A Bush loss in '04 would be devastating to the GOP.

5. It will take years to undo what this admin has done so far...

and that will cost a lot of money and use up a tremendous amount of energy. This might leave the economy even worse of than it is now...opening up room for a 'stronger' candidate.

Just a notion....I'm still working on this.

6. They would never put up another candidate for '04...

that would admit to complete mismanagement. But, if they let bush lose, they can start for '08.

Actually, I can't see any way bush can win in '04. There is a powerful wave of animosity building up against bush, and I think critical mass may be reached soon.

There is too much invested in the GOP for them to give up without a fight.

If they truly pull out all the stops, including brainwashing the public with a media blitz and fixing the election with electronic voting machines "guaranteed" by the manufacturer to produce the desired results, they might actually have a chance in '04 despite all the wrong turns they've steered our country down for the past 3 years.

They're going to have the money... why wouldn't they give it a shot?

On a related note, I don't think Bush Inc. will be too disappointed if they lose in '04. The worldwide hate stirred up by the administration should provide an abundant supply of defense contracts for many years, regardless of who's in office. It's not like anyone in the administration has quit their day jobs. If anyone on DU is wondering why Bush Inc. seems so smug all the time, I'm pretty sure that's why. No matter how the election turns out, these guys have already won.

8. I agree that they are in it for the money...

it will take a lot of re-regulation, and an extremely forceful individual to break up what has already been done.

However, since seeing Whitman, Fleischer, and Hughes take a leap off the ship, I still have to wonder just what the GOP majors are planning. I'm still willing to bet that Powell will jump ship.

9. I heard that some people

have already pasted a bumper sticker "Bush & Cheney in 2004". Suggestion: you might want to get your hands on one of these. They are sure to become collector's items, because the sticker is about to change.
