Thank you, thank you, thank you! We met our goal!

Your efforts and financial contributions, whether two dollars or two thousand dollars are making an incredible impact on our ability to spread the message of Dennis John Kucinich to ALL Americans.

How fitting that a dynamic, grass-roots campaign comprised of extraordinary people like you will be responsible for placing an extraordinary man - OUR OWN DJK - in the White House in 2004.

Here's a little trivia fact for you and your friends. Did you know that 8 of our nation's Presidents have come from the State of Ohio? With your continued support, Dennis Kucinich will be the 9th!

I send a very special thanks to those of you who rallied so hard during the final hours of our matching funds deadline. You can be assured that every dollar is cherished and being spent wisely.

It is now October and a new financial quarter begins. This presents another opportunity to fundraise for the campaign so that we can all benefit from the matching government funds....so keep doing what you do so well...and please begin thinking who you will invite to your house party on October 13th as we join together to celebrate this historic campaign and Dennis' formal announcement.

The spirit, the pride, and the honorable manner in which this unique campaign is being funded is consistent with the Spirit of Democracy.

I read this too today and it doesn't say how much he made. When do we get the big number?

4. They are still opening thousands of envelopes. Takes time.

Everything that arrives by October 2 is counted in this quarter because it was mailed before the quarter ended. So we won't know for DAYS.

And this is more of a consideration for DK because so many of his contributors are poor or lack internet connections.

We must be patient.Or at least TRY to be patient.

We went above and beyond our goal Fear although it wasnt nearly as much as some of the others, I am still pleased.

5. The goal was $1.5 million, which will be doubled to $3 million

...by matching funding. And the reality looks to be something like $1.75 million. The Peace Parties added something like $500K to the total. Adhering to public financing is working very well for Dennis. The coffers should swell even more in this quarter.

I thought it was 1.5 million then too, no?

But I'll have to look. I think he's been raising his goals by quarter, and exceeding the goal each time. And by agreeing to stick within the public financing guidelines, he's doubled the numbers each quarter.

So that would make $2 million last quarter and more than $3 million this quarter, with matching funds added in.

This upcoming quarter is going to be the most important, because we're going to have to make a showing in one of the early states to be taken seriously.

Meanwhile, there's an active campaign to confront all the media dismissal that's been coming his way. And it's been working, garnering rewrites and mentions on shows that didn't include Dennis in whatever statement they made about resistance to the invasion, or health care, or whatever.

So it's still tough, but this is what the grassroots is all about, and this is what Wellstone faced, too.

But some campaigns got less this quarter than last, so only getting a few thousand more is a sort of wash. Less than our hopes, but more than our fears. We need to do it better this quarter (though the hols will make that difficult).

I hope the new campaign manager is prepared to make some changes. The previous guy was too obviously not able to think beyond a local, non-technical campaign.

And that puts him into a different tier all by itself.

Dennis is doing well this quarter. We've got to keep the grassroots powered up. This is the way Wellstone did it.

This is a great haul for anyone, especially considering that progressives are not known for being billionaires. Kucinich is an inspiration to us all, and I hope that no matter what, he stays with us for a long, long time.

I'm glad I contributed and I'm glad DK has some much needed $$$$. Maybe now he won't be ignored by the media that acts as if Howard Dean is the ONLY "progressive" i the race.

This reminds me a lot of the late, great Paul Wellstone who built up large campaign coffers with a large amount of donations from the "little guys". I don't know the exact numbers, but I do remember that Wellstone's average donation was around $50. I'm sure DK is in a similar situation.

15. Nader Put Kerry After Kucinich On Crossfire

And personally, I don't consider being anti-resolution (you can't really say he's anti-war) as a ticket to progressivism. If anything, Dean is a left-leaning centrist exploiting a vote he didn't have to make.

If you look at Kerry record - go to Sierra Club, Public Citizen, Common Cause, wherever - you will see that he is truly a progressive. You may disagree with his IWR vote, but his record is impeccably progressive.

I think Dennis is continuing to make progress. Wellstone didn't just take off, either. He, and the grassroots, had to work at it.

18. I don't think it'll take quite that long

Kucinich is a politician of the present. He's talking about the nation being on the cusp of great change, and I believe him. I don' think now, especially, is the time to talk about "settling" for less.

Our ability to have expectations has been damaged by Reagan, Bush, and now Bush the Stunted. We need to dust it off, remind ourselves that just a few years ago we had a hint of what the future can be like under Clinton, and embrace positive change for our nation and the world.

Dennis is a leader who will inspire us to work together to make everyone's place better.

As Chomsky pointed out the other day, the Iraq invasion is the first time military adventurism has been protested before it started. Admittedly, SmirkCo's marketing effort left the world time to organise, but still -- during Vietnam it took years and hundreds of thousands or millions of lives before people in the West were even aware that there was anything going on. And I'm sure that difference in awareness is why our rulers are trying so hard to make sure no real journalism happens. They can't get away with it if the world is watching.

but like Dan I feel it could be soon.
I think there is a valid reason why I defend Kerry, its mostly gut instinct some of the time, but you know like Dan I consider him a second choice and my kind of dem, overallly liberal. I kind of get why I do it, but its interesting hes not my candiate but I do see why many chose him.
