1. It isn't too late for a powerful charge by Edwards.....

...since no one has taken control of the race, but if it continues for too long like this, Hillary will be the nominee in a brokered convention, with one of the others as VP.

2. I respectfully disagree about Hillary

One thing that can restore Rush back in the good graces of his deranged base would be Hillary in the running. She is smart enough to know this. She has been through the wringer, she knows what to expect.

She can't win, she will energize the Republican base and will just damage the Democrats in the long run.

She is in a powerful position where she can shape policies for a long time to come. If she is as smart as I think she is, then this should be enough.

Edwards has the best chance to beat Bush.

7. Anybody can beat bush.....

Bush will be in such trouble by Nov 2004 that the Democratic nominee will win in a landslide.

The Republican base will have little use for Bush by then.

I like Edwards, and I think that he will probably be President eventually. I just don't think that he will win this time.

3. Psst. Hillary isn't running.

And the Democrats won't allow a brokered convention. The person who comes out of the primaries will have to appear to be the favorite of the party, and popularly elected. If there came a poit in the primaries when the math suggested it was heading toward a brokered convention, candidates loyal to the party (and there a several among the 10) will fall on their swords to prevent that from happening.

If it remains this close, it is hard for the big ego's to let go.

Hillary isn't running, but if the party called on her after 17 failed votes in the convention, it would allow her to say (correctly) that she did not run, but as a loyal Democrat, she answered the call of her party.
