16. Recall is the only case where the Lt Gov does not succeed the Gov
Otherwise, if the governor's office is vacated, the Lt. Governor assumes the office.

8. Statewide offices in California are elected independently of each other
Bustamente remains Lt Governor (unless Davis is recalled and he wins the replacement vote) and Bill Lockyer remains Attorney General. Sorry, Ken Lay, Lockyer wants to introduce you to Spike.

9. Is there an ongoing investigation by the Cal AG into Enron?
And... could the new allegations about Arnold meeting with Lay become part of that investigation?

14. The state investigation is pre-empted by the federal 'investigation'
Edited on Mon Oct-06-03 08:20 AM by Jack Rabbit
The DoJ opened its own investigation of Enron, which pre-empts the state investigation.

Of course, there is no real federal investigation; it is nothing but a cover for Enron.

15. That's right
Arnold will still be the only statewide GOP officer. He will face a hostile legislature full of Democrats who will not view the recall much more kindly than they view the Florida election theft. He's going to be in for a rocky time of it.

13. They didn't recall Cruz. He will remain Lt. Gov.
Of course, there should have been no second half to the ballot and Cruz should succeed Davis.
