I've been invited to Kucinich's announcement!

One week from today, Dennis Kucinich will formally announce his candidacy for President, and I got an invitation!

Hell, yeah I'll be there!

He announces in Cleveland at noon next Monday. There will be a reception immediately after, where I will get to meet said Congressman/Presidential candidate!!!!

It's invigorating to be near the candidate you support.

But I also can't understand why Kucinich is formally announcing as it it wasn't already obvious to the most casual observer that's he's already running. Is there some particular benefit to be gained from a formal announcement? More frequent flier miles maybe? Perhaps he has an astrologer on staff who's given him a good time and date to announce?

...as a candidate myself.

You begin your campaign long before you announce anyway, and you time your announcement to an event that can attract the most influential people in your area to be there and support you.

Howard Dean did it when Leahy and Jeffords could both be in Burlington. I'm sure Kerry had some amazing people at his announcemt. Same for other candidates.

I'll bet Dennis has several people lined up to be there and support him. I do not know who yet, but that probably plays a key role in his timing.
