24. TtF!
This is the f*in' deal with the poll. Graham didn't have this much support. Dean, Clark, Kerry, and Kucinich supporters voted for their own man. Ballot stuffing is inherent to the world wide web, so expect it.

I'm an actual Graham supporter who has just 95% switched to Clark--another moderate who opposed the war in the most clearheaded fashion. That's my main voting issue, although I'm not a one-issue voter. Were Clark not around, I probably would have swallowed hard and cast my vote for...

nah, that would be telling...

3. There were only a handful of Graham supporters before.
Interesting that so many have popped up now in support of others.

4. Where were all these Graham supporters earlier?.
Before Graham fizzled and Clark entered the race, I supported Graham and he never seemed to get more than 6 or 7 votes max in any poll. Damn, you guys were shy!

which it is in fact, not.
As if you didn't know what I meant. lol

5. You'll just get Deanies and Clarkers voting as Graham supporters...
This poll looks v. familiar to every "who do yo support" poll. Especially the Dean v. Clark race.

13. Yeah
I abstained. But I'm betting many didn't.

In the future, it's probably best to include an "I wasn't a Graham supporter" option...it won't be a panacea, but it will help some IMHO.

make the poll more accurate?

The only way to view a poll at du is as a random sample of active DUers, another reason why this particular poll is so perfect.

18. I don't think it'll help at all
seriously, having the words "graham supporters: who do you support now?" should be enough to let people know it's for Graham supporters only. BTW, Shame on you if you voted and you never supported Graham (not like it makes a difference that I say it, but you're ruining the poll that's NOT FOR YOU.)

But, it's an idea, Goobergunch...it could work, ya never know...

14. A very important poll
Clearly, it shows Graham supporters are all gravitating towards either Dean, or Clark. The scientific basis is unquestionable, and this poll should be referred to by a link as proof that Dean and Clark are picking up all of Graham's tens of millions of supporters. {heavy satire}

17. TO THOSE OF YOU WHO POSTED AND SAID
THAT THIS POLL WAS "DUMB" OR "STUPID", I HAVE THIS TO SAY:

Why the hell did you post here if you thought it was so damn stupid? Unless you've got something better to say than "this poll's stupid, you're an idiot for posting it, Leftist", move the hell along. thank you.

27. I bashed your poll
but I didn't intend to bash you. I think it was a good idea where to gauge some of the Graham supporters are going to flock to.

I was just disturbed on how the poll turned into a small sample of what every "who's your favorite canidate" poll is with Dean vs Clark and the far lead, Kerry and Kucinich following. In reality I don't expect Graham's supporters to move in such a DU fashion we are all so used too.

Good idea but sadly many will just post for their favorite regardless to boost a poll (and some didn't and good for them!! :) )

Edited on Tue Oct-07-03 09:23 PM by lkinsale
And I ain't votin' for Dean. I don't like him and I don't think he'd make a good president. Call that an attack if you like, it's my considered opinion. *shrug*

Maybe Clark, I dunno.

Maybe I'll just join the Draft Graham campaign. He'd make the best prez of the whole line-up, yesterday and today.

Silly country, silly media, silly DU, to blow him off the way you all have.

23. Graham was a good person (Hi Laura!!)
Edited on Wed Oct-08-03 08:18 AM by RandomUser
Hi Laura :hi:

I think he's an exceptional politician, and it's sad that he didn't gather more steam. I liked his diaries and regular workman days. He certainly added a much needed perspective on foreign intelligence. Do you know if he'll run for the Senate seat, Laura?

Off topic: The Shadowheart cover looks great. Have you thought of doing Nanowrimo next month? I know you're on a sabbatical and all, but it's diabolic, albeit slightly masochistic, guilty fun. I haven't decided definitely on it this year yet, but it was fun when I did it last year (Zette did 100k in 10 days or something, absolutely insane, but fun). And have you checked out Evolution? I'm not currently involved with or active in either FM or Evolution, but I think Evolution chat may solve any post-FM anxieties you might have. I hope leaving FM hasn't affected your writing. The evolution crew are a bunch of FM-expatriots (like Robert Sloan, Nonny, Alli, etc.) who split with Holly over some great flame-filled hurly-burly in August/Sept (I wasn't at FM, so don't know the details), and have tried to recreate their own private FM, complete with word wars and chat (and it's not segmented chat like the new FM multi-room structure you objected to). I understand there are lots of FM ex-pats (some before your time, some during, some after), some new people, as well as people who hold dual membership.

I never imagined you and I would be on the same message board again. I really missed you when you left FM, but I haven't been to FM in months either (heheh). Love ya, Laura!   And I hope things work out for Graham.

31. I was getting ready to put up a Draft Graham website
But I got a call from someone who was with the campaign asking me not to. They want him to run for the Senate. I think that he would be more useful to the nation as part of a new democratic administration. I don't want the new president to appoint him to a cabinet position giving Jeb the opportunity to appoint a senator. We have several capable senatorial candidates here in Florida. Maybe those of you who only know him as a senator are not as aware of his administrative talents as we are. I will decide on who I will support for president after the debate tonight.

22. newsworthy guesses...
Edwards and Clark will be the only candidates to benefit from Graham's disappearance. But considering that Graham did not have an impact on the national polls this won't help or hurt the other candidates...and you can read in the coconut telegraph, written in 25 words or less! ;)
