New Jersey Representative Bill Pascrell
Democratic candidate for President John Kerry received the endorsement of New Jersey Representative Bill Pascrell today, a fellow veteran who has fought with Senator Kerry to provide America’s veterans with the health care and benefits they have earned.

Rep. Pascrell will become the co-chair of John Kerry’s Campaign in New Jersey along with State Senator John Adler, who serves as New Jersey’s Democratic Conference Chairman, and is now Co-Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Rep Pascrell said, “John Kerry is the only candidate in this race who has not only served his country bravely, but returned home to fight tirelessly for Americans who wore the uniform and for the health care and the benefits they earned. I am proud to lead his New Jersey campaign because he’ll bring back jobs, fight for middle class families, restore fiscal discipline, make health care more affordable, and most importantly, make America more secure.”

Bill Pascrell is a veteran of the U.S. Army and Army Reserve and has quickly become one of the most strident supporters of Veterans in Congress. He has also been a leader in fighting to provide for our nation's first responders and supporting homeland security efforts. Throughout his career, Rep. Pascrell has been a champion for working Americans, who have felt the greatest pain under the Bush economic plan. Bill is a Regional Whip in the Democratic Caucus Leadership and represents New Jersey's 8th district.

Kerry is taking lots more delgates than Dean.

Bottom line is that right now Dean could win both New Hampshire and Iowa and not hold enough delegates to get the nomination.

Kerry has 14 superdelegates, while Dean has 10. That's not "lots more".

FYI, Gephardt has 36.

Kerry is racking up large numbers of simple delegate support that exceeds all but Gephardts.

The primaries haven't happened yet and a lot delegates are selected by using primaries.

4. I doubt superdelegates would matter

There hasn't been a situation where there was more than one candidate left at the convention for a long time. Most likely it will be irrelevant who the superdelegates are. The reason they matter is for fundraising and ,to a lesser extent, directly convincing people to vote for the candidate.

However, Kerry is already leading in fundraising in NJ where he has raised $600,000 compared to second place Joe Lieberman's $440,000. And that is before Kerry got any major endorsements so Pascrell and Adler may be able to convince other potential donors to go with Kerry. New Jersey is Kerry's 4th best state in fundraising.

NOTE: Adler is a close ally of George Norcross, the South Jersey democratic party boss, a top fundraiser, and executive of Commerce Bank and that could mean a lot of money. George Norcross's brother is Donald Norcross who is the Camden County Democratic chair and the president of the South Jersey AFL-CIO. I doubt that Adler would do anything this major without having the consent of those two power brokers first and they can raise a ton of money for Kerry.

Thanks. I think that IAFF endorsement (Fire Fighters Union) makes a HUGE difference. Any other candidate lower on the ticket wants to campaign with the fire fighters on stage with them and in the streets FOR them, too.

Don't hold enough delegates to win the nomination.

They aren't even close to having 50% of the nation's Democratic delegates.

11. Dean is actually showing poorly

In the posible percent that he could wing either New Hampshire or Iowa by if he can win at all. If he does it will be with thirty percent of the vote or less in each state dues to the large number of other candidates. Pollsters and democratic pollsters are becoming worried about what is being called the Dean disaster by many in the DNC and the DLC.

By the way, the exit polls at the fall DNC meeting just past, show that actual DNC members prefer Kerry to all of the other candidates by an almost 2 to one ratio.

Clark and Dean run equally with five out of ten voters DNC members believing that Dean or Clark would get the nomination, but 8 out of ten stating that they beleive Kerry will be the nominee. For the delegate reason I have stated above. The number of people who beleived that Kerry would be able to win in 2004 showed the same ratio.
