1. Huh...
I'm willing to say that this is just a routine shake-up seeing how oddly the campaign got started. We'll see if this has any long term affect on the style and substance issues.

3. My feelings are...
that parts of the article are pretty telling and that this is probably due to the "Dean Effect" (a smart new term I just coined) -- that the Campaign Manager was fairly convinced to beat Dean you would need to fight fire with fire (ie be savy on the internet). This person probably felt that was especially true given the grassroots/web support that really initiated the campaign.

I doubt it'll have much of an effect except to get some headlines, but I still think it is interesting to see how Dean's campaign has forced reactions from other camps.

That being said, "Go John Kerry! You da man!" I had to get in a plug.

4. If you are involved as online supporter
than I hope you give respect to Fowler for being an advocate for the grassroots community (assuming the reasons given are at all valid.)

Anyhow, good luck to you guys in the effort, and good luck to the General.

5. I'm not officially part of his campaign
I was one of the thousands who sent draft letters, and switch my support from Dean to Clark when Clark entered.

6. Cool.
Well, I'll keep positive thoughts on your campaign. I am an ardent Kerry guy, but I also believe in Darwin if you get my drift.

7. "[Fowler complained the campaign is too focused on Washington]"
Edited on Tue Oct-07-03 07:20 PM by Pez
"Fowler has complained that while the Internet-based draft-Clark supporters have been integrated into the campaign, their views are not taken seriously by Fabiani, Klain and other top advisers, many of them based in Washington. He has warned Clark's team that the campaign is threatening to be overly focused on Washington, a charge leveled against Gore's campaign in 2000."

--from link--

wonder if they will take this into account?

8. what I want to know......
is why anyone would choose the old Gore campaign team. Clark is doing well in spite of them, not because of them.

9. gore actually won the popular vote though...
...and seeing as how clark is probably a more likable figure than gore-- and bush's little "outsider compassionate conservative" thingamajigger didn't end up making pots of gold fall from the sky-- i don't see why they wouldn't be useful.

11. Gore won the popular vote.....
but it was a pathetic campaign. Gore should have won in a landslide.

10. Shouldn't the campaign pay attention to Fowler?
Most of Fowler's objections seemed true to me. The fact that he had to leave because of these differences demonstrates that Clark has given the campaign contributers complete control of the campaign, and that Clark is only too happy to ditch the populist DraftClark movement now that those suckers present more of a problem with their hopeless ideals.
