Desperate, dishonest Dean bashers' despicable tactics on parade again
In this thread.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=108&topic_id=58498&mesg_id=58498

A Dean basher accuses Dean of being a soft racist for refusing to condemn a caucus voting plan by MIchigan Democrats. Too bad for them the Michigan party chair is African American (don't just believe me look here).

http://www.mi-democrats.com/topics/aboutus.htm

I don't know how to copy phots so you will have to look but it is very clear he is African American. Now ask yourselves this. Who do you think knows what is better for African American Democrats in Michigan, an African American Democrat in Michigan who happens to chair the party, or some Dean basher. And if Dean is a soft racist for not condemning this plan then just what is this man who voted for it? It is sad that so many people on this board act like their candidates can't win without dishonest and desperate tactics. It is even sadder to call an African American who rose to be his state party's chair a soft racist inorder to smear Dean.

...also makes himself a frequent nuisance on the Dean blog, and goes trolling in Dean related chats. Too much time on their hands I guess...

36. If Dean spent the time talking about middle and working class opportunity
that Edwards spends talking about those things, I'd support Dean, and Dean would probably be doing better in SC.

But he doesn't, and he isn't, and it makes my head spin when I read the silly puffery of Dean which totaly contradicts my impressions of him. Sorry, I can't not say what I see.

If Dean's the candidate you think he is, it won't matter what I say about him right?

So what are you worried about?

And I wish that people talked about Edwards more often here. But, so long as we're talking about Dean, I'm gonna talk.

44. "So what are you worried about?"
I think that's an interesting point. Why DO the Dean supporters get so upset about anything negative that is said, even if it's their candidates own words? They are so certain that he is going to be the candidate, because he has $$ and meetups and rallies. Why are their worried? Why can't they just leave those threads alone and "laugh all the way to make their contributions?"

I don't get it.

37. Promoting policies which create disparate racial impacts may indeed by sof
racism. I've never heard that term before, so I guess we'd have to define it. Nonetheless, it's not an illogical statement to make. There's no inherent contradiction.

6. What part of soft racist don't you get?
and that is the word he used in the title. But since you clearly hadn't read the article why should I be surprised that you didn't read the title. For the record, and as pointed out in the artice and on the thread, people can mail their ballots and can call for them so they don't have to leave their homes, and this was a unamimous vote. So not only did this one African American think this was good but every single African American Democrat on that committee did to. But again since you didn't bother to read you didn't know that.

i don't know if your post is to bash dj or to prove that dean isn't a "soft racist" because the MI party chair is black-- i don't really care about any of that since none of the points address the real problem of internet voting in general-- just thought i'd toss in another idea that has no connection and doesn't prove or disprove anything in particular.

you left out "are allowed" which is an entirely different thing than implying "only dean and his supporters bash other candidates". jeebus... would everyone chill.

This person read my message and understood it very well. The decision to change the meaning of my message was just to bash me. That's fine... I can handle that.

See, they can bash me but if I say anything negative about their candidate it's the end of the world. :-)

Sounds unfair to me. And a little hypocritical but that's okay. :-)

You are saying that Dean supporters are the only ones who are allowed, by their own standards(or whatever your implication was), to bash other candidates and that Dean supporters are hypocritical for criticizing those who bash Dean. That was quite similar.

come up with instances where you have criticised people supporting your candidate, or pick a candidate if you don't support one, for criticising another candidate and I will match it instance for instance. I have defended Kerry, Gephard, Kucinich, and Clark to name some, when Dean supporters have maligned them. So put up pal.

BTW I am not kidding here. You made a charge against me that I think only Dean supporters are or should be allowed to criticise candidates. There are many times that I have shown that I don't think that. I want that list.

38. I won't put up...
I'm not going to generalize about all Dean supporters because that's not true but some of the Dean supporters are here just to whine 24/7.

I came here to this board not having anything against Dean but when I questioned him I got a bunch of whinning from his supporters. That's a turn off! Tell your fellow Dean supporters to change their technique or people are going to be more turned off by it.

BTW: I defended Dean on that same thread where he was labeled a "soft racist" because I know it's unfair and it's not true. People who are calling Dean a soft racist are preaching to the choir. So let's keep the whinning at a minimum please! I try to put up with it but it's really hard to do. You have to forgive me for that. :-)

26. Clarence Thomas Is a Soft Racist
And Harry Belafonte told him so. Saying that an African American is unable to do harm to the African American community is a condescending as asking that your roommates be black.

But Dean's long history with the civil rights movement negates any possible criticism about his credentials. When push came to shove, Dean worked tirelessly to help those less fortunate than himself. That's why I respect him so much. After he marched against the war in Vietnam, I knew he was really committed to justice.

Well, maybe none of that is true, but at least he asked for black roommates! That's why he's my first choice!

"I want to go to the South and I’m going to say to white guys that drive pick up trucks with Confederate flag decals on the back of their car, 'We want your vote too, because your kids don’t have health insurance, either.'"

42. I Don't Doubt They Have Done More
But I have done my share. I have worked hard to fight environmental racism in industrial New Jersey, and spent more than two years teaching in low-income minority neighborhoods. I've never considered it my "cause" to help black people, but in the course of my life I have somehow managed to help out when it was appropriate.

I'm glad that you feel confident enough about my life to bet on it. I wouldn't do the same to you.

Kerry was in Vietnam - where was Howard-powered Howard?

As for the 40th Anniversary, Kerry was there. Way to do your homework.

Celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the March on Washington

"We need to guarantee equal rights and civil rights and say that, here in America, workers have the right to organize -- women have the right to choose - and justice belongs to everyone regardless of race or gender or sexual orientation.” - John Kerry

Join John Kerry for President supporters on the National Mall this Saturday to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the March on Washington.

Begin meeting at 10 AM at Northwest Corner of the Reflecting Pool.
Signs, stickers, and other materials will be provided. Please remember to bring sunscreen and water!

Join us to reflect on the past 40 years of the civil rights movement and work towards a better future for this country. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet fellow Kerry supporters and remember that "justice belongs to everyone regardless of race...."
