Damn!!! Thought we had a great VP pick....
Was watching Kstreet tonight and saw Harold E. Ford, Jr. on and was reminded how damn good he was....articulate, smart, from tennesee, african american (thereby showing we want to get married Mr. Sharpton!!!! -- it's a crime the Dem. party doesnt do more to promote african and hispanic american candidates for executive offices and the senate...)

Then after I looked at his bio, I realized that he was too damn young!!!! Grrr....he will be only 34 years old by the next election...maybe we should look at him to run for the senate or governor in the future, and have him emerge as a potential candidate for president....does anyone know his record as a politico more than what i've learned at the national level?!

shoot...gotta look to the future....oh well, Harold E. Ford, jr 2020 comitte to elect starts now...

1. He's quite moderate
He is a member of the Blue Dogs and the New Democrats. He supports school vouchers and school prayer. He also was cosponsoring a bill to "privative" social security but democrats pressured him to pull out after the proposed bill became public. I think he would be a good senator and he is expected to run for senate in 2006 if Bill Frist retires but I don't think many DUers want him to be president.

2. tennessee is conservative
that's why i think he takes many of the positions he does. especially since he wants to run for senate. as the original writer said, if not for his age he would certainly be considered on the top of the list for vice president for almost any of the candidates running. but i see him at this point wanting to run for senate and then run straight for president sometime in the future.

5. Yeah I was hoping he'd be in for a VP spot until I heard about his age
He is too conservative for my tastes (comes from a conservative area) but I think a VP spot would be very good for him and would finally give a marriage in the democratic party and african americans.

6. yeah...many countries
have parties (usually the left) that have policies that certain numbers of women, and minorities must be nominated by the party to run for office...those countries that have lists usually have men and women alternating in order for selection...perhaps that is why Europe is more enlightened then we are on certain issues...the inclusuion of women and minorities bring legitimacy and a voice to the whole nation's electorate...

We should be actively attempting, as a party, to draft and support the candidacies of women, and minorities within our party...not just to be inclusive, but for the simple reason that it makes us a better party in the long run!!!!
