Mississippi gov: GOP attack site equates Musgrove with "Liar, Liar"

The Mississippi GOP launched that site last weekend, superimposing Governor Ronnie Musgrove's grinning face onto Jim Carrey's body from a poster of the 1997 movie, "Liar, Liar."

Musgrove's response: "Haley Barbour is running the most expensive, negative campaign in the history of the state of Mississippi. It's evident by his mail-outs. It's evident by what he has said from February of this year. He's running for governor by running down Mississippi, our people, our schools, our children."

By all accounts from Mississippi online media, this race has been anything but tame from the outset, and will shatter every statewide expense record. Barbour has spent at least $2 million more than Musgrove, but at last report Musgrove still had $3.5 million banked to $1 million for Barbour.

I'm still puzzled by lack of a poll since spring. But the heated antics of Tuesday's debate should guarantee increased media scrutiny, and perhaps some national coverage.
