Clark edges Dean and Lieberman in California (Field Poll)
The new Field poll has good news for Gen. Clark and Howard Dean and Joe Lieberman, all are in a statistic dead heat in the state, but the General does lead by 3-points. Here are the results:

Clark: 17%
Dean: 14%
Lieberman: 14%
Kerry: 9%
Gephardt: 5%
Shaprton 4%
Braun: 3%
Edwards 1%
Kucinich 1%
Undecided/Other 32%

The General has a big lead among Male voters of 24-15 over Dean with 11% for Lieberman.

Lieberman leads among women with 16% to 13% for Dean and 12% for Clark.

Among age groups Joe Lieberman has a big lead among 18-39 year olds. 23% favor Lieberman, 9% favor Dean, and 8% favor Clark.

40-49 year olds favor Clark by 17-13 over Dean with 11% for Lieberman.

50 or older favor Clark 24-17 over Dean with 10% for Kerry.

Per Field poll, "when Republican president Bush is paired against each of the five leading democratic candidates in simulated general election match-ups, he runs about even against each. In some cases Bush is ahead by two to four points, while paired against Clark, the president trails by two points."
Clark: 45%
Bush: 43%

Bush: 46%
Dean: 42%

Bush: 45%
Lieberman: 41%

Bush: 46%
Kerry: 42%

Bush: 45%
Gephardt: 43%

In my opinion this is very good news for all of our candidates that at a time when most people are not paying attention to the campaign that we are statistically in a dead heat with the incumbent president.

1. God knows, I have been wrong a LOT lately...

(see my predictions on 2002 elections..ugh)

But I'm seeing some permutation of a Dean/Clark ticket. Just a sense I'm getting.

I'm NOT running down other candidates. I'll vote for whoever runs against the Chimp, happily.

4. So do I
For these Dems to be running head-to-head with an incumbent president 13 months before the election is excellent. Bush will not win California. Mark my words.
