Kucinich speaks out on the 87 Billion

Tonight Congressman Kucinich released the following comments:

"A majority in Congress has failed to challenge the Bush Administration on the perpetuation of a mission now widely understood to have been fraudulent. While some of my fellow presidential candidates voted against this bill in the end, their support and the support of some of the candidates who are not members of Congress should have come earlier and stronger. Their voices were dearly missed as opponents of an unjust and destabilizing occupation, while they quibbled about where the funding would come from.

"Those who voted for this war must come to terms with their mistake and work to correct it, rather than seeking a middle ground that does not exist. We must heighten our opposition to this occupation and advance a plan to bring our troops home rather than leaving them to be used for target practice. My fellow Congress Members largely evaded this life-and-death issue in favor of a debate over the source of funding for rebuilding Iraq."

1. Great for Dennis.

So Dennis, Kerry and Edwards are opposed to the theft of education and health care funds for the occupation. Dean came out in favor of giving Bush the $87 billion. Lieberman and, I believe Gephardt, voted for it. Anyone know where Sharpton and Moseley-Braun stood on the issue?

they were going over the 9 candidates and their thoughts on 87 billion and they gave Dean a nay vote next to his name.

I tell ya...Fox News is the biggest piece of shit. I only turned it over there because cnn or whatever I was watching was in a commercial.

Of course then fox news says all 7(besides gep and LIEberman) are all out of the race because they opposed the 87 billion.

5. Dennis is right and he's got the plan

6. He was right

on the Patriot Act, he was right on the IWR, and he's right on this, too. We can't keep throwing money to the Bush administration like it doesn't matter what they've done and continue to do. It would have been better to have withheld it until they agreed to a U.N. resolution turning everything over to the the U.N.

8. I salute Dennis' leadership on this issue

This guy, who still hasn't missed a vote, has showed leadership in his position in Congress, leading the opposition to Bush's lie-based plan to invade Iraq, and now to poison Bush's funding for his obnoxious military adventure.

9. He leads the way yet again

Yet something tells me, same old same old, he wont get the credit, you know the Army Rangers motto "Rangers lead the way", it seems that "Kucinich leads the way" yet he is not getting rewarded. Thats so pathenically annoying, wake up and realize this man has leadership and a vision. If I sounded jerky I dont mean to be but damnit, here we have a man: one of the few after that mounting pressure on congress after 9/11 said no to the Patriot Act, said and coled the charge against the war in the house, here we have a man who is trying to repeal the hated and despised Patriot Act, a man who said no to the 87 Billion, and on and on. Lead the way!

10. Dennis really needs more money

People need to give as much to his campaign now as they possibly can, understanding that if he doesn't make a strong enough showing in one of the early primaries, it will be difficult for him. Now is the time for him to get known, especially in Iowa.

11. Way to support the troops...

The $67 billion for the troops was packaged in with the roughly $20 billion for Iraqi reconstruction, as you all know. By voting against it, Dennis not only opposed the Iraqi reconstruction, but he opposed the troops. That bill had money for their food, their health care, their equipment, and their combat pay. I am disappointed in Kerry, Edwards, and Dennis for voting against this money. I opposed the war, too, but face facts: the troops are not coming home. Voting against this bill is not endorsing them being there, it is simply funding the troops. Dennis needs to grow up.

Voting against this bill was an empty threat anyway, especially with all the gutless pieces of chickenshit we have representing us. The Bush war is going to go on, until the American people get fed up enough to take to the streets. Do you really think Bush* will hesitate in writing another hot check for our children to make good on?

I would much rather see our men and women coming home because some congressmen grew a pair and told Bush no than see them coming home in a long box with metal handles.
