has Clark's "baseball challenge" backfired?

1. Kinda lame but ...

Baseball challenge is mainly for baseball fans ... I sent Clark $400.00 over the last couple of days - none of it in the baseball challenge. I don't think this is an indication of his donations. I read while he was out with the flu, his wife starred at a fundraiser that raise $150,000 in Little Rock. He maybe is fading from his initial bounce but I still think he is in the money hunt.

2. This wasn't a major fundraising drive.

It was for fun. There was no promo for it and no promo since it started. They are just having some fun. And I would say the little amount of money they pull in is still more than they would have otherwise.

3. I agree it was just for fun

however I did get an e-mail about it today (from the Clark campaign) and the Associated Press covered it yesterday (including the first day totals) so I disagree about whether or not it was promoted.

the fact that the AP wrote about it and mentioned the relatively small totals is actually what got me thinking about whether or not this "gimmick" had backfired.

4. They got a major promo for it on CNN

It was on Inside Politics, I think, they explained how it worked and showed the web page. That was pretty cool for Clark, always nice when they promote your stuff even if they then (as CNN did) follow it with a bash about how Clark praised Bush. Still, the fundraiser plug was good.

They did the media plug at the beginning of the fundraiser though. If they (The Media) come back and report on the progress later, when it's not doing so well, that's a bad thing indeed for General Clark. And because expectations for him are so high, it could certainly backfire.

It was something about donating in the name of one of two baseball teams. Also, the scoreboard used decimal places.

If I were donating to Clark's campaign, instead of Dean's, I'd just donate normally instead of using that. But, I'm only a very very infrequent baseball game watcher.

I have no doubt that they'd both fill up, and I don't think it would only be Marlins & Yankees fans donating.
