Gore Meetup numbers reach 1,858
Gore Meetup numbers reach 1,858

While this may not seem like many people, just a few short months ago the gore2004.meetup.com total membership was less than 600 and holding.

I confess, for the past two weeks I have been checking the total every day at least once. Today it rose by more than two members. I get so choked up when that happens.

You can say what you want about Al Gore the man or Al Gore the 2000 Presidential candidate but one thing's for sure:

1,858 people (minus possible duplicate emails and freeper spies and post 2000-election Gore converts if any) are either hard core enough Gore Fans or are still sore enough about the 2000 election that they want their voices heard somewhere in some way even if it's just in a number.

If nothing else we of the 1858 are dedicated.

Thanks for listening.
You can go ahead and mock now.

NOTE: I promise not to post this number again until Gore ABC reaches our 2,000 member goal and then only with a VERY SHORT post.

5. I did explicitly invite mockery.
I could not sit alone behind my Gore 2004 sign a couple times a week if I did not have a sense of humor about it. BELIEVE me. Try holding up an "Al Gore for President" sign in a crowded area, you'll see what I mean. Mouths do drop.

I do tell people though that if they think Gore was elected in 2000 and if they also think he COULD win 2004 if he WERE to reenter the race (unlikely) they should think about signing up for http://gore2004.meetup.com .

After all, unlike in Florida circa 2000, at gore2004.meetup.com every voice counts (even if you never read a single email) and it only takes 30 seconds to sign up (unless you're a cruddy typer).

6. I don't mock you
but I believe it's time to move on. The whole damn thing about Al is a heartbreaker, but what's done is done.

7. If people had done that in 1824 there mightn't BE a democratic party. n/t
