I just got spammed and the jist of the spam was Bush is the education prez. Get this Shrubie's "Reading First" program is a multi-million dollar program that is teaching 3rd graders to read at 4th grade level by the end of the school year. ROFLMAO hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!! Isnt that what schools are supposed to do anyway. God is this some silly spin or what???

As part of the Reading First program, third-grade readers are receiving intensive training in the fundamentals of reading -- and parents and teachers are thrilled with the results:


"Eight-year-old Paola Arteaga's library card shows the third-grader is becoming a voracious reader.

"And her mother, Susana Cabrera, credits Reading First, a multimillion-dollar federal reading initiative launched this fall that aims to have third-graders reading at fourth-grade levels by the end of the school year.

"Part of President Bush's No Child Left Behind initiative, Reading First will bring about $105 million to Arizona schools over six years.

"'I'm thrilled with this program because it is nurturing a love of literature in my daughter,' Cabrera said."

something like 14,000 3rd graders failed reading. Sooooo very sick of these blantant lies. My grandaughter (3rd grader) reads almost as well as I do, but we attribute that to us and her parents. We have been reading with her since she was born. What's going on here in Fla. is a vast number of children CAN'T SPEAK ENGLISH!! So schools have been denied funds - go figure.
