I also brought in his old book "The New War," too. He was impressed that I had a copy, but honestly a good friend had just given it to me recently. I can't claim credit for hunting it down.

Kerry seemed in very high spirits after last night's debates and we joked about the "Kerry Gone Wild" video. (i got to get me a bootleg!)

We are at a crossroads blm I feel just like we were in 1968 the same year RFK perished and in 1932 when Mr. Roosevelt first got elected. Seems to happen every 36 years I guess. True we gotta get Bush out but this is a great moment to do good. I tell you, I am only 16 years old, and I am starting to think I could well be a pacifist. Look at me new quote in my sigline, I made that up but if you look at it you a bit of All Quiet on the Western Front. Maybe I am an idealist but I say it with pride, not a well I am an idealist, you know that the late RFK talked about and I think Jack did too. In my candiate Congressman Kucinich I found much more than issues to like the man for. Being a Kucinich supporter is an honor yet its also hard as anything, especially when you feel lucky to see your guy mentioned, but do you know your guy fights the good fight, yes you do and that raises the morale. It is people like him who we remember and who the kids learn about.

Kerry hits all the right notes for me. Virtually any progressive issue you can name, Kerry is one of the foremost ranks. Public Citizen loves him, Sierra Club loves him, the unions love him, GLBT groups love him, election reform people love him, LCV loves him, corporate watchdogs love him, campaign finance people love him...

Kucinich is good on the issues, but I admire him for how he has went from a poor kid to a sucess, plus not to sound weird here but it is nice to share ethnic blood, plus I like how he has told about the human costs of this horrible war. I have made your candiate my second for good reasons, I assure you but I am always proudly for Kucinich.

9. Like Santa Without The Elves

This is the fourth or fifth time I've seen him, believe it or not. Whenever he's in the NYC area I try to catch him (especially when he's rocking out with Moby!), and I went up to New Hampshire for a weekend and saw him speak there.

This was, by far, the most satisfying. Even though there was a long line of people, they set it up so only a few people were around him at a time. Every other time was with crowds going nuts, so it was really cool to actually get a chance to see him in a more casual setting. He knows how important the internet is for the grassroots, so there was a genuine sense of gratitude on his face when I explained how I've spent the last few months (and that my name was not actually DrFunkenstein!).

I figured I'd go with my DU name to commemorate my year or so of active citizenship, and I had him sign to my real name to "The New War" so I can sell it for tons of money on e-bay when he's President (just kidding, I'll cherish it and probably pass it off to one of my kids when I have them).

As a man who loves the sea, Kerry gets big points from me for being so into the ocean. Not only does he chair the Committee on ocean preservation, he just loves to be around it. I could never live too far from the ocean. Even when I lived in Houston, I used to drive to Galveston all the time (and Galveston is not the most awe-inspiring of beaches).

After awhile my family moved to power boats, but I've always loved sailboats since then. I still remember my little "Sunfish" sailboat. This was actually the color.

Especially the one with Kerry holding his new book--like the b&w photo of him on the cover. I have a poster that he signed on a visit to UCLA in September; my daughter was there, and was very impressed with JK.

I am looking forward to his visiting Florida as the campaign progresses. Am ordering his book today. Also looking forward to the book due out in January '04 about Kerry, "Tour of Duty: John Kerry and the Vietnam War" by Douglas Brinkley.

Kerry was just on Imus and did a great job! Imus is such a jerk, but Kerry handled him very well.
