So I am meeting Dean tomorrow

I am going to a The cocktail fundraiser he is having tommorrow. I am semi involved here in vegas in campaigning for him and I am told by the people organizing it that chances are pretty good I will get to ask him a question.

So heres your chance to resolve an issue about Dean here at DU what should I ask him?

Let me say I am solidly in Deans camp he connects with me more than any other candidate on that stage except perhaps sharpton last night. So dont expect me to use my question on something like do you eat babies for breakfast. However I will ask him a tough question. I am not a one issue voter and there are places I dont agree with him 100% so even if i dont agree with his answer i will try to get an honest question answered honestly.

So what should I ask him?

Things that I have toyed with include

I would love to put one thing to bed here if possible though. What should that one thing be?

Job loss is a big issue. Ask him what he will do about NAFTA, and how he will get it done. We need to stop the job loss now. Good luck

he is for NAFTA but wants to renegotiate it to put in labor and human rights standards.

Not sure I understand what more to look for in that?

18. as far as labor standards are concerned:

Ask him about a NAFTA minimum wage and overall environmental standards. The way I see it, a minimum wage that equals a living wage is sorely needed if we are stem the tide of jobs flooding out of the US. And for environmental standards - why should we in the US import Mexican produce that was treated with chemicals that are illegal to use in this country?

I always thought Dean's stance on the Iraqi Invasion was very clear until someone starts bringing up that(biden-lugar bill) and then it gets explained by a Dean supporter and I'm clear again. But I think it would be good if we could hear straight from Dean what it is he's thinking. :)

11. I am meeting him Wednesday. If I get the chance,

I plan to mention his line in his stump about how this time the person who gets the most votes will become president, and ask if he has any specific ideas how to make that happen. I know that in the beginning he was skeptical of the idea of BBV. He hasn't commented in a while that I know of, and I really wonder if he will be taking any positive steps to insure that the election isn't stolen from him.

Tomorrow, if given the chance, I will be asking him, so that I can hear it straight from his own lips, if he will repeal NCLB or just try to 'fix' it. I know he has already said that he will repeal it, but I've only heard him say it once and I want to know in my heart that he will do what he can to get rid of that harmful law. That's when I'll start pounding the pavement daily to further his campaign.

I am looking for a leader who will begin to unite Democrats. CSPAN rebroadcast the last debate today and ALL the candidates (excluding Lieberman) looked very presidential and worthy of praise!
I am sure Gov. Dean can find some common ground with his “opponents” and be the first to say (while motioning towards them) “I won’t have far to look for a cabinet!”

Democrats might ought to try that unity thing!

EXPENSABLE!

Here is the question/statement:

"Most of the lost 3.5 million jobs have gone overseas, yet the expenses of closing a factory in the U.S. and opening one in China can still be deducted from a business's income tax. So in essence, the individual taxpayer is actually subsidizing the exporting of American high-tech, service and manufacturing jobs to China and India. This is the most important economic issue yet there is no serious movement to remove this as an expensable item. Corporations should pay an additional fee if they export a job overseas, not get paid back for doing it! Then they would stop closing many factories here. Taxes are definately not my forte and i wouldnt now a progressive corporate tax from a non progressive one.

Dean could do everything he wanted without having to raise taxes on the middle class if he added new higher marginal rates for corporations (and individuals).

Also, why not tax unearned income (dividends and capital gains) at at least the same (but preferably higher) rates as earned income?
