Did anyone see Dean on the BET tonight?

I don't understand how he does it. He's everywhere, all the time. Can you imagine Bush doing this?

All those long hours and stuff, where you get five minutes' sleep in a 36 hour shift. Dean had that "privilege" before that stuff got curtailed (a little).

He does have seemingly boundless energy.

I've watched about 1/2 of the CSPAN interview so far, and he definitely was under the weather, but it was a GREAT interview. Maybe the best I've seen from him. He is getting better and better.

9. This is just how Dean campaigns

The ones who waited to really start the heavy campaigning until September were foolish in thinking they could play "catch up". Dean will keep up this pace from now until Nov 04. And when he wins, he'll work just as hard as president. He works his tail off and always has.

10. Clinton-Like Energy, Isn't It?

I think Bill Clinton somehow gets by with four hours of sleep each night. (Anyone else hear that?)

Ironically the last Vermont President was Calvin Coolidge, who -- Bush #43 excepted -- was the "sleeping President." He was among America's least energetic presidents. Dean may be trying to repair that. :-)

11. Dean also doesn't have a job

To be fair, he doesn't have many other distractions in his life, except family, so he can commit total energy to campaigning. This isn't a swipe at him, it is more of an apologistic statement on why Kerry, Kucinich, Lieberman, and Gephardt aren't equally prolific. They would be (and already have been) accused of neglected their duties if they did that.

On the other hand, this is why Dean stands a good chance of winning. He is the type of person who commits himself totally to something.

However, even if the others didn't have any other commitments, Dean would still be doing more and working harder. He wants the job and wants to do what he can to help his country. He's a great leader and he's more determined to win and work hard to do that than any other politician I can think of, currently or in the past. Dean has the hunger, and he isn't going to slow down a bit.

14. Thinking ahead is a good trait in leaders

Maybe not having other obligations while campaigning for President was on his agenda.

From his formal announcement speech, it sounded like when he initially got into the Presidential race he just wanted to nag about the health care issue and saw himself as a single issue candidate, like Sharpton, and Braun. But after Bush's tax cuts drained away our surplus and the Iraq War got the Dem base mad as hell against the Dem leaders as well as Bush, it looks like Dean saw a major leadership vaccum within the Democratic Party as well as a leadership crisis in our nation, and developed a plan to address the leadership issue from both within the party and with the Bush Admin.

The opening lines of Dean's March 2003 speech to the California State Dems, echoed my thoughts exactly about the Dem Party's lack of leadership, and it got me thinking seriously about joining his campaign. I did so the following month after his op ed to Commondreams.org. Since then, I've only gotten more excited about his campaign and about our chances of ousting Bush.

Dean is a real leader. May not agree with him on every issue, but he's the only one I have faith in who will not only do his darnest to work for us but will develop strategies to get policies we support inacted against the rightwing crackpots.
