Is there any way we could agree
Edited on Tue Oct-28-03 02:43 PM by indigo32
to quit calling supporters of specific candidates names? I don't know... in a single thread we've got DK supporters called lunatics, Dean supporters called immature kids (actually one of the nicer insults thrown around about them). I've seen Clark supporters are called as bandwagoners (and more) and I'm sure Kerry supporters are called names too.

We really need to work together in the end... it will take more than a vote to win... and it certainly isn't going to win anybody any converts to your cause. We need to get beyond the demonization an anonymous forum like this allows.

1. I hope so....
I've tried to make peace before, and got blasted for it...so I decided that I was not going to be attacked and not retaliate.

Good luck with it, though.

2. That's completely ridiculous.
It's the DK supporters who are immature kids and Dean's who are lunatics. Try to get it right.

to remember that every insult gives the Freepers one more reason to smile.

Can you say "parasite?" I knew that you could.

"PARASITE!"

6. I fully agree.
I like to stick to 'Candidate X supporters' or 'the candidate X camp'.
There is no reason to use loaded terms.

Even without the loaded terms, it is easy enough to make a blanket, unfair characterization of a candidate's supporters.

7. Agreed...
...unless, of course, it's Liebermann supporters. Nobody's going to stop me from calling them names.

10. Whenever there's a thread started...
...with a question like "any Liebermann supporters out there?", there are no responses. But whenever there's a poll asking a positive question about the Dem candidates, Liebermann always gets a few votes...

14. LOL, and I mean lots of luck!
I try as hard as I can to remain civil and I think the vast majority of people on this board do but all it takes is one bozo to get people all riled up. I have been that bozo a couple of times and have been very ashamed of myself. That being said, it would probably be easier for us to let the particular person making bozo remarks go without response. HA, I don't think that can happen either. Ah, for a peaceful life stay out of politics! I do think that often we take offense because it is difficult to discern the real meaning behind a statement. I am with you but doubtful it is possible but thanks for giving another try. For me, I'll try to keep my bozo moments to myself.

15. Difficult
Too many people are caught up in insults that they don't realize are insults. (Candidate X is a liar and anyone who doesn't believe he is a liar is an idiot.)

I'm firmly committed to promotion of candidates because whoever is selected is going to need my passionate support, no matter what.

16. lol, well, I'm a Kerry supporter and
as was said in a different thread, all Kerry supporters are a "disability" on the Dem party.

I hope one day to aspire to more than this, lol.

20. I'm ok with it as long as qualifiers are attached
I'm not gonna be hypocritical, because I have made comments about a certain segment of supporters before, but I always use a qualifier like "some" or " a small group".

21. Sure we could
All it would take is the pointless bashing threads to stop.

we would get along great. As long as the spin and downright distortion of candidates records or statements goes on there will be no peacer here till the primaries are over.

I remeber this place before primary season. It was great! It has since disolved into aboiling pot of missinformation and dishonest charachter assasinations.

I look forward to the end of primary season so we can get back on the same page again.

Till then the gloves are off for me in this forum. Ive been listening to calls like yours for a long time now hoping they would take only to realize they dont. So till the end of the primaries for me at least the gloves are off.

Lets rumble!

25. I would hope so...
being in the same party means working towards comman goals. The liberal activists will not win without the support of traditional party voters, and the traditional party voters cannot get their people elected without the support of the issue driven activists.

We need each other, and a house divided cannot stand. :grouphug:
