Who would benefit from a Straw Poll?
Despite all the debate surrounding the controversial straw poll in FL, I'm still wondering who would not only attend but also benefit from the exercise in futility. My opinion: Edwards could gain something from the poll and has already been campaigning - http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/news/politics/7100294.htm - in FL and has committed to participating in the poll if his opponents are also interested. Would Dean take FL as easily as he took Wisconsin or would his declining support - coupled with the success of other campaigns - become evident? Who knows? Maybe Dean is actually growing in support? Or maybe it's hollow support? With all that money, though? Anyway you play it out, Edwards would still, I believe, benefit from the poll. What do you think?

Lieberman. I can conceive of a natural base for each of them. Sharpton will get a smattering.

I'd say Kerry, Gephart, Kucinich and Braun would likely be buried.

JMO which is worth what you paid for it.

2. Dean
He has the largest base of volunteers who would be able to be mobilized for this type of event.

3. whoever is getting the money the poll generates
I presume one has to pay to go to it and that some entity (FL Dem party ls likely) is getting those funds. They benefit, no one else does.
