Wilson says he would have voted for the IWR-intends to campaign in IA, NH
He told us in the chat, that Kerry's return from Vietnam and his opposition to that war and his courage in taking his message directly to the seat of power in Congress in 1971 is a main reason why he is endorsing Kerry. I think it reminds him of what he himself is doing today. He also said he plans to campaign for the Senator in IA and NH in November .

He said that Iraq was always about weapons and that he had felt force might be neccessary to get Hussein to comply with the UN. He said that the president argued that he needed a strong resolution to go to the UN and make his case. Wilson said obviously the language of the resolution was broader than many Dems would have liked but that he would have voted for it. He says the president lied about his real motivation and condemned his attempt to short circuit the intelligence process for what was really a war of choice.

I'm sorry I have no link, the transcript is not out yet.

2. So, Bush needed to have authority to conquer Iraq for them to comply...
huh...

Bush could invade with or without the resolution, according to Kerry, so why wouldn't that be enough?

And why would Saddam disarm when Bush made it obvious he was going to invade when declared he was going in with or without the UN before the IWR, and then piled up an army on the Iraq border?

I'm afraid I don't see the logic.

But, I'm sure the UN resolution that was passed before the IWR had nothing to do with it Saddam reluctantly complying right before Bush invaded.

3. There was no UN res passed before IWR-it was after
and it was unanimous. Many in Congress had urged the President to seeks Congress's support. In the early stages it looked like Bush might go by this route but then he abandoned the UN and rushed to war over the objections of many in his own party and in Congress.
Blame Bush

5. Bush did not rush to war
it was always planned to kick off early in the year. The war had to be over before the weather in Iraq got too hot to fight in.

6. True, Saddam said he'd let inspectors in before the resolution.
http://usinfo.state.gov/products/pubs/iraq/timeline3.htm

2002, 12, Sep - UNSC begins discussion on Iraqi non-compliance with UN resolutions.

2002, 17, Sep - Iraq says it will permit UN weapons inspections.

But hey, Kerry had to give Bush the authority to threaten Iraq to comply which Kerry says Bush already had, and then strongly opposed Bush invading until he supported it.

4. Well, Wilson is making his bed with a loser
and he'll be rebuffed in IA and NH, just like Clark was.
