5. Kucinich knows this isn't just a battle over jobs ,

it's a battle to stop the plan to turn this country into a two-class society in which the few, and incredibly wealthy, plutocrats govern the many, who will be forced to work at low-paying jobs. We've already got huge numbers of unemployed and underemployed Americans, people who can't make ends meet, adults having to move back in to their parents' homes, people who can't afford medical insurance, and the GOP is doing all it can to make it easier for the plutocrats and harder for the people. For example, Bush will soon sign the Medicare bill, sold as an "improvement" but designed to destroy the Medicare program. It's like we're on a sinking ship and the Republicans are pumping in more water, while some of the Democrats are deliberately looking the other way. Dennis John Kucinich is the guy with the bucket, bailing as fast as he can.

America can no longer compete in these industries. Other countries can pay their workers far less. In terms of both economics and foriegn relations, a trade war is in no one's interest--including workers in Pittsburgh.

We need to focus on education--making a smooth transition from a manufacturing economy to a service/technology economy. Imagine if the investment channeled into steel and coal could go towards solar energy. We need to think bigger.
