Kids really are making a difference in politics
Two Orange County (CA) kids working on the Kucinich campaign, according to their last count, have passed out over 50,531 flyers, handouts, etc on behalf of the Kucinich campaign. These kids have created their own flyers telling people why they should vote for Dennis, printed literature from Dennis's site and have also handed out literature they've received from the campaign. Adults in OC seem to be much more receptive to taking literature from kids than from other adults. Congradulations to these two.

2. When I was a
school crossing guard in the sixth grade I made giant
peanuts that said vote for Carter. I gave them to everyone
who crossed. One of the parents got really pissed.

4. That is really neat. I bet your parents were proud.
Carter turned out to be a really great guy. He really deserved that Nobel Peace Prize. He was a fairly good President except he underestimated the oil companies and the bad guys in the CIA.

3. I went door-to-door for a school board candidate when I was a teenager
I think it was a positive message to have a student knocking on doors promoting a candidate. The people were polite to me (except one grump who thought I was selling something, I suppose).

I recall that he won.

5. My 6th grade daughter
is coming with me to Iowa next month. She's making a documentary of our trip. She also entered a contest to go to NH; we'll find out later this month.

We'll be in Boston in July as well, and hopefully DC next January.

She can't vote, but she's learning so much about the process and about why it's important to be involved.

Last night at Meetup there was a candidate for State Sentate who endorsed Dean; she got to meet him and talk to him a bit.

My dad got me involved in local politics when I was her age or even younger, and it made a lasting impression.

6. Well, we'll see what happens in 2004...
in Goobergunch vs. the Precinct from FreeRepublic!

Let's just say that one of the people walking around during Halloween 2004 will want a vote as his treat....
