Dean's Bat Is Back! Goal: Gore's Vote Margin :-)
Al Gore won the 2000 election by about 500,000 votes, so, thanks to an idea from Dean's own supporters, the bat is back. This time there's a goal of $500,000 by midnight December 12th.

Dean's supporters have taken a serious whack at that goal by raising over $45,000 online as I write this (as of Tuesday 11 a.m. Eastern).

1. Round up all the Republican Dean donors
and get them to donate for this just like they did for Boswell. LOL.

I'm loving this. I am truly giddy. Almost as bad as I felt December 12, 2000 I am nearly as ecstatic now. I really feel like we are regrouping and we are going to Take Back Our Country. We'll be able to fly the flag with pride once again.

2. Thanks...I had missed the symbolism of Dec. 12th...
I doubt the $500,000 will be difficult to reach at all.

3. Nope. With Gore's old voters
and me. I contributed $25 today to get that bat moving. I'm very proud to be a part of the historic event, and Gore's injustice will be vindicated when Dean is formally inauguarated as the President of the United States in 13 months and 2 weeks from today.

5. On December 12
Edited on Tue Dec-09-03 12:19 PM by LuminousX
The GOP held a coup and took our democracy away from us. The Supreme Court handed down its decision on Bush v Gore (or was it Gore v Bush?) which unconstitutionally handed the election to Bush.

Never forget!

6. Bloggers asked for a Gore bat
and got a Gore bat.

Mike Ford talked about how whenever you meet with Joe Trippi in his office, he's got one eye on the conversation and one on the Blog.

I love how they respond to the bloggers. Even if this one is just a coincidence, people feel like we are part of this campaign. Because we are.

8. I am a Clark supporter
But I have to give Dean his props, he really is running a great campaign. I mean, these bat swinging ideas, him helping out vulnerable House members (not only will it help him gain support in the White House with legislation but it also helps for party unity), and he is a fundraising machine.

:toast: Cheers to Gov. Howard Dean!

12. I'm for Clark, but I've got to say Dean is running a masterful
online campaign. The idea of the bat, the "Thanks Al" petition - he really does make his supporters think that the power is in their hands.

Congrats to the Dean folks on Gore's endorsement. :)

16. GORE HAS 60 MILLION IN OLD CAMPAIGN FUND
ON C-SPAN or CNN, THEY MENTIONED GORE HAS $60 milion in his old campaign fund. He cannot pass it own to another candidate, but he can pass it on to other democratic orginizations. He needs to do this. Anybody know how long any candidate can keep his un-used election money before it reverts to who??? The government - I guess.

Remember: BE VERY, VERY CAREFUL!

Don't let the Republicans set our agenda. They are the ones that are saying that some other Democratic candidate (Hillary, Gore, etc.) might run in '08.

If we Democrats say the same thing, it implies that we do not really believe we will win in '04.

The only thing the Democrats will be doing in '08 is re-electing our winner from '04.

17. He had 5 million on Election night 2000. Made me scratch my head.
If it had been me running, I would have spent every penny and more to try to win.

18. Gore totally wussed out-- I'm no fan
If Gore would have REALLY stood up and INSISTED that every g-ddamn vote in Florida got counted, he could have WON. Instead, he took the "pragmatic" approach and didn't want to ruffle too many feathers-- god forbid he look "radical" in agitating for full accountability.

Of course, if Gore could have convinced the 300,000 Democratic Floridians who voted for Bush, he could have won too.

Gore's Dean endorsement just proves to me (and many other Democrats hoping for REAL CHANGE) that Dr. Dean is quite content to continue down the same old losing path, playing the same Republican money game that has cost us not only presidential elections, but also congressional seats and governorships, too.

Gore is WHAT'S WRONG with this party, NOT what's right.

24. Congrats

I handed out Clark info right next to a Dean brochure person outside UW Bookstore in Seattle today; JC was there signing his new book. I had a great time, in spite of the cold drizzle.

Dean's campaign is long in the tooth; it was good to see it still at work, getting the word out. There were eight or so people there not connected with either campaign, just registering people to vote.

It was a good day for Democrats in Seattle.
