Edwards on Crossfire. Very good. Very very good.

After navigating the icy sidewalks of Durham, NH (in a 3 person walk and talk), Edwards and Paul and Tucker went into the bus for the very first interview inside the Crossfire bus.

Edwards deftly handled the continuing question, "Can Dean beat Bush".? Edwards argued how HE can more easily beat Bush.

He discussed how his background gives him insights into helping regular people, i.e., not revoking the middle class tax cuts.

But he was SO funny when Tucker asked him about Clark's religious "summit", with priests, rabbis, imams, and the Dali Lama. Edwards laughed - said he was kind of taken aback by that suggestion. It was a really easy, funny moment.

And I like Clark. But Edwards showed how you can question another candidate, or poke fun even - without it being hurtful.

What got my attention initially was how self-assured (oblivious to the frigid temp, helping Begala through a snowdrift) he looked just walking down the sidewalk.

Begala and Tucker looked like frozen geeks; Edwards was just cool.

And THEN he started answering questions!

This guy has a tremendous future in the party. I'm not sure it's as the nominee this year, but most certainly someday...

I'm having a hard time figuring out what the difference is between him and the other candidates which makes the guy DU'ers described in the abstract as the perfect candidate 2 years ago not the first choice of more DUers.

5. I think people dont like the IWR vote, just a hunch

I have Edwards on my list for either VP or AG, and of course would support him should he be the nominee.

Dean is all over the place, and supported the 87 bil.

I think opposing people based on IWR vote defies logic.

Right now I'm listening to Bill Clinton explain why he would have voted for IWR, while explainging exactly what Bush is doing wrong in Iraq, reflecting the opinions of Edwards and Kerry, and it makes way more sense, and is way more logically consistent and coherent than any of the DU IWR criticism.

I dont hate Edwards or Kerry as a person or anything, in fact in reality those two are high on my list. You're right. I dont like people using IWR as a sole litmus test, because despite IWR I think Kerry and Edwards have their good qualities, Kerry on the environment really impresses me and Edwards is good on health care. I could name more but I dont visit their sitse often.

Why in the world would everybody have Edwards on their VP list if they really cared that much about that vote? I understand there are real Kucinich supporters who really care about it adamently; but the rest are just using it for political fodder to shred their strongest opponent. Just like they use warmonger or Republican against Clark.

Youre right. I dont care much about that vote, Edwards I still like despite his vote which admittingly upset me, but I still like him. His work against the HMOs as an attorney impresses me and I like how he defines his vision.

But everyone except Kucinich made the same judgments about Iraq at the time. Everybody knows it, it's no secret. That's why I think most people are full of it when they bring it up. Not everybody, of course, certainly not you; just most people.

It is hypocritical of people I agree, because the frontrunners were all for a middle ground view, I see what you mean. I try to look at their positives despite a vote I dislike.

14. When I see the same thing dozens and dozens of times, I can't help myself

and "Edwards for VP" is a slogan I'm way past tired of hearing.

To me, it implies, "uh, clearly this guy's policy positions are better than my candidates' and since I can't challenge him that way, all I can say is my candidate wants him for his VP."

I'd rathter see supporters go toe to toe on the issues than avoid a discussion of the issues with the "___ for VP" strap line.

I just wish you hadn't directed it at me.

IMO, even though I have a great deal of respect for Edwards, I just want Bush out of the WH and I sincerely don't believe Edwards can do that.

However, if Edwards is the nominee, I will bust my hump for him. I just don't think it's going to happen nor, if it did, that we would beat Bush.

7. I like a Kerry-Edwards ticket

Yes Kucinich is my candiate but I think these two are my second faves, I like Kerry because of his all around liberalism on many issues and his experience, and other reasons, Edwards because he is anti corporate, smart, and could draw some southern vote. What do you guys think of that?

I have been on the Clark bandwagon lately, because I think he offers a unique opportunity for the party, and I have been very disappointed with Kerry's campaign.

But I thought Kerry was fantastic last night, and I just want to see the process unfold. May the best man (or woman) win.

It's a brilliant idea and that isn't exactly what Tucker said. Shame on you Chimpy for not being accurate. Tucker asked "What do you think of Kerry wanting the Dali Lama to go to Iraq?" Edwards recognized what was down the line and distanced himself. Smart for him I admit.

But sad that somebody recognizes we've got to bring the world's religions together in order to have peace, it's turned into a joke by the right of course, and we spread the doo doo for them. tsk tsk.

20. I am a Dean supporter (no kidding), but I must say

that we have a lot of great candidates. I think John Edwards is a doll, speaks well, very approachable. My problem w/ JE is that he voted for the war. Also, weird problem, but he looks way too young for what, 50 yo? I should have such problems!
