How to stop Rovian/Orwellian Media Manipulation.
Edited on Thu Dec-11-03 06:07 PM by Homer12
I think it's actually easier than we think.

1) Feed the beast what it wants
2) Add plenty of contridiction that can be exploited in the feed
3) Contradiction and hypocrisy is actually a form of poision
4) feed it more

3. Don't play into their hands
We've got to understand that in order to fight something, or change something, we first must understand it. The democratic candidates that are using negative campaigning--mostly against Dean--are falling for a trap. The media is picking this up and making it HUGE. "Dean inconsistant on the war in Iraq" was repeated about 50 times today o the TV new programs. Over and over. "Dean can not win against Bush" over and over. Dean is ahead because he keeps tellig people what he will do to change things for the better. When a person is complaining or criticising, they are not doing that AND the news will take advantage of it and put up on the air, because it is negative for the Democrats. When they are being positive, they are not shown. We do need to know if there is something that really needs to be known, but one has to balance that with the understanding how they will use this info against us. Over and over again. We will never hear the end of it. It is a way of brain washing people.

4. It worked well with Wilson/Plame

I should have expouned more on what I meant. An it's not playing into their hands.

Rovian techniques rely on a few basic principles:
1) Right or wrong, win at any cost
2) fearing their enemy's with real or imagined hype
3) take every oppurtunity to back-stab your enemy

And the most important rule: 4) Rove has omnipresent power over political campains, real or imagined, and no matter what we do we can't beat him.

Number 4 can be exploited the best.

It's called feeding into a persons arrogance, and then using this to manipulate them. Rove, Dick Cheney & Paul W. feed into GW lack of intellectual curiosity and do the work for him.

Rovian methods are circular and can be exploited; but I don't think the the DNC or any of their strategist have figured this out yet.

2. Can't be done.
Let's face it, when the facts that Bush's friends have profited directly from this war, and that some of his other friends and associates have made money off the collapse of major corporations make *fewer* headlines than Clinton's haircut holding up a plane, then there's absolutely nothing that can be done to save the system.
