I bought Sirius last night...

I bought the sportster and boombox.

If AAR was not on there and did not have its own channel I would have nnever bought it.

I enjoy other channelsw but AAR was the drivign factor.

After i activated the account I wrote to Sirius and told them why I bought thier system specifally for AAR.

I liek to give feed back cause I think the 'silent' majority who are not GOP lovers deserve something other than hate radio.

With the cable modem it was not a big issue streaming but I like to mobility of the Sirius unit.

6. Easiest way...

go to Radio shack and get their Orbiter unit. It's similar to the Audiovox one and works extremely well. And the price is the same as most other places. You need the basic unit and a "car kit" and/or a "home kit" that the unit fits into to make it work. A Boombox is fun, too, and eliminates the need for the home kit, but the gadget can be made to work with most boomboxes or stereos.

The gadget works by sending an FM signal to the car radio or home stereo, or by plugging directly into the audio jacks of the home stereo.

For the car, you might need a "cassette adapter unit" for 20 bucks, since the FM frequencies are limited and in areas like mine it's difficult to find an empty FM station.

Best Buy and other electronics stores might have units on sale, and the cassette adapter is only 15 bucks there.

You could go online and order a unit directly from www.sirius.com You want to go there anyway to sign up. Pay for the whole year's subscription and save a few bucks.

Wherever you go, check for rebates and package deals.

in some units the modulator is built into the car kit. In all of them, the kits give you the power cord, antenna, etc.

The main unit isn't meant to stand alone and has to be used with something else-- home kit, car kit, or boombox. Or anything else they come up with in the future.

Some of them are just front ends to be used with car radios made to be used with them, but that's getting a little far afield.

Why did you pick Sirius over XM? I like it for stern, NFL radio, etc... and AA helps. But I thought AA was on XM as well.

Sirius has the FULL Air America program day... XM only has a few programs (good)

Sirius has a GLBT station - evidence of left leaning (good)

From what I've heard, their only programming input on XM is their LA station, KIIS-FM, being present, as well as some of the syndicated programming they own.

Other than that, they don't have any input into what XM does on their stations.

But if you're looking for liberal talk, I'd go with Sirius. They give you a straight AAR feed and a seperate liberal talk channel as well. Can't beat two liberal talk stations.

Personally, I find the monthly service charge of $12 plus per month a bit excessive. If I were in my car all day it would make sense to me, but as I work from home, my AAR, music, and world news needs are well satisified with my DSL connection.
