As a red stater I feel betrayed by the Iraq build up propaganda for weapons of mass destruction. I am mad as hell! However, I am not only upset with Bush and the GOP, I am also mad at the mainstream media that played scenes of the dead Kurds and other victims of Saddam's crimes, over and over. They had a part in this mass hysteria we all felt before the invasion. They should also share part of the blame.
I know its a different subject but look at how the media had a part in Clinton's Monica problem. One day we come home from work and find all the networks saying "How long can Clinton hang on after his lies?" They made the story 10 times more imporant than it really was. Until they told us that he was just days from resigning we did not think much of it. They fed the story and added enough fuel to make it an inferno.
These new revelations of shoddy journalism are just the tip of the iceberg. The media fed off of Bush's agenda and manufactured news and innuendo that led everyone (almost everyone) to think invasion was our only hope.
I didn't so much vote for Bush as against Kerry. Give us Red Staters a decent democrat to vote for an we will vote for them. Clark, Gephardt, DEAN!--not Kerry.
(as you can see I am new to DU, I may be too wordy, if so, I apologize.)
