Protest plus PR Stunt - Ebay auction of "Conservative Talk Radio Host"
It's even remotely possible this is a good bargain - the current auction price is just over a thousand bucks. This guy is a self-described "Conservative Talk Show Radio Host" in the Wash DC area who is apparently protesting against the crass "bought journalism" of the GOP by offering himself -- air time and column space in an auction. Any income from the stunt will go to a good charitable cause:

"Conservative Talk Show Host For Sale" - Item number: 5952770833
DESCRIPTION:
Michael Graham from 630-WMAL in Washington DC is for sale!
“Hey—Where’s MY gravy?”

That’s my question after finding out my fellow conservatives like Armstrong Williams and Maggie Gallagher are on the “cash for commentary ” bandwagon. Why not me?

Since the Bush Administration hasn’t called (yet), I’m dropping a not-so-subtle hint that I, too, have bills to pay. I’m making my services as a talk host, writer and pundit available quickly and easily right here on eBay.  And, because I’m a true conservative capitalist, my services are available to the highest bidder!

GOP, DNC, NRA, NOW, NAACP, heck, if the price is right, I’ll even sing the praises of multi-level marketing. (Wait—let me think about that one.)

This is a great deal for the winning bidder, too.  In addition to hosting a three hour daily talk show on 630 WMAL—the number one talk station in Washington, DC—I also write a weekly syndicated column, I’ve written three books and I’ve appeared as a pundit on NBC’s The Today Show, CNN’s Crossfire, HBO’s Real Time, MSNBC’s Hardball and Fox News Channel’s Dayside with Linda Vester and numerous other national TV and radio programs.

Unlike Armstrong and Maggie, I will of course DISCLOSE the fact that I’m being paid for my opinion, but the passion and professional presentation are all for sale!

I may be a principled conservative, but I ain’t no dummy. Let the bidding begin!

(PS -- Any proceeds from this auction will go to benefit Fisher House and the excellent work they do for our wounded soldiers and their families.)

1. Heh, we should start up a fund,
and get him to plug the virtues of reinstating the fairness doctrine...

4. Yeah, it's tempting, isn't it?
Yesterday I sent him a Question To The Seller to get more info to see what he would actually contract to do, but he hasn't responded. He identifies himself as a conservative, and he would prominently state how his attention and "passion" was bought, so who knows. But it is undeniably intriguing to see what he would do with an assignment like you suggest. The radio station is in Wash DC, so it might even been heard!

The auction ends in a little under 17 hours.

8. I'd rather pay him to give a 3-hour lecture on the virtues of anal fisting
That way, his conservative talk station also gets fined by the FCC.

6. I know what he'd probably do
cash the check and say "Gotcha!, you dumbfecks!" Then brag to his buddies on how he pulled the greatest stunt on a bunch of funking idiots who believed him . . .

Check the handwriting to see if it matches that of a pill-pushin' mammoth . . .

7. Some DUers Might Not Find This Guy Very Funny
Edited on Tue Feb-01-05 08:09 PM by Vinnie From Indy
Conservative radio talk show host?
Ask yourself how many sane "conservative" radio hosts you have ever encountered. My bet is not many. For all we know this guy is posting this crap here as a "joke" on the liberals.

What is so goddamn funny about the media in America becoming whores for a dishonest regime responsible for killing hundreds of thousands of people?

This isn't funny because this guy isn't doing this PR stunt because he thinks the issue of paying journalists with tax payer dollars to promote the President's initiatives as real news or honest opinion is wrong. No! He is doing this stunt because he is trying to say that he is a conservative media person and as long as conservatives are stealing tax dollars he wants some too! This is funny to him. Also, he, and his audience, are probably getting a huge laugh thinking it is "liberal" idiots paying for him to be what he already is!

Dis Fawkin' guy is a moolie!

9. My novel, Talk Radio
I'm blatantly promoting my novel, Talk Radio, here on this website. I still don't have a release date for it, but I know posters at the democratic underground will love it.

You can read about it on my website at

www.mark-gelbart.com

There's a bunch of stuff you all will like on there as well.
